Introduction and Importance of Carbon Dioxide Gas Transmittance Tester
Date: 2025-12-23Read: 24
This information is provided by Jinan Languang Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd.
Carbon dioxide gas permeability testerIt is a professional equipment used to test the carbon dioxide gas barrier performance of packaging materials, based on the principle of pressure difference testing. Its core function is to evaluate the permeability of materials to carbon dioxide under different temperature and pressure conditions, providing key data support for industries such as food, medicine, and packaging.
The working principle of this tester is based on the differential pressure testing principle: clamp the material to be tested (such as plastic film, composite film, aluminum foil, etc.) between the upper and lower testing chambers. Vacuum the low-pressure chamber (lower chamber) and the entire system to ensure no residual gas interference. Fill the high-pressure chamber (upper chamber) with a certain pressure of carbon dioxide gas to create a constant pressure difference on both sides of the sample. Under the action of pressure difference, carbon dioxide permeates from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side. The instrument monitors the pressure changes on the low-pressure side and calculates parameters such as carbon dioxide permeability and permeability coefficient.
The importance of carbon dioxide gas permeability tester:
1. Ensuring product quality and safety:
Carbon dioxide is commonly used in modified atmosphere packaging in the food industry to inhibit the growth of aerobic microorganisms and extend the shelf life of food. By measuring the carbon dioxide transmission rate of packaging materials, the stability of gas composition inside the packaging can be ensured, preventing food oxidation and mold growth.
Some drugs in the pharmaceutical industry, such as capsules and tablets, are sensitive to carbon dioxide, and the barrier properties of packaging materials directly affect the stability and effectiveness of the drugs.
2. Optimizing packaging materials and processes: By testing the carbon dioxide transmission rate of different materials, companies can select materials with better barrier properties and optimize packaging design. Real time monitoring of the barrier performance of packaging materials during the production process ensures product consistency and reduces the rate of defective products.
3. Meet regulatory and standard requirements: Food and drug packaging must comply with relevant domestic and international regulations and standards (such as GB/T 1038, ISO 15105-1, etc.). The test data provided by the carbon dioxide transmittance tester is an important basis for the compliance of packaging materials.
4. Promote technological innovation and sustainable development: provide performance evaluation methods for new barrier materials (such as nanomaterials and biobased materials), and promote technological progress in the packaging industry. Support the development of green packaging by reducing the carbon dioxide transmission rate of packaging materials and minimizing the impact of packaging waste on the environment.
5. Economic benefits improvement: Optimizing packaging materials can extend product shelf life, reduce losses caused by oxidation and decay (separation), lower inventory pressure and logistics costs. The application of high barrier packaging materials can enhance product market competitiveness and help enterprises seize market opportunities.
