Aging problem and replacement strategy of closed flash point tester
Date: 2025-05-22Read: 1
  Closed flash point testerIt is an important equipment used to determine the flash point of flammable liquids such as petroleum products, solvents, coatings, etc. It is widely used in petrochemical, quality inspection, scientific research and other fields. Due to long-term operation in high temperature, high pressure, or frequent ignition environments, key components of the instrument are prone to aging or performance degradation, which affects the accuracy of test results. Therefore, timely identification of aging issues and the development of scientific replacement strategies are of great significance for ensuring the continuity and reliability of testing work.
1、 Common aging problems and their impacts
Aging of ignition system: Carbon deposition, oxidation or gap displacement of ignition electrodes or ignition devices due to frequent use, resulting in unstable ignition or inability to ignite, affecting flash point determination.
Failure of temperature control system: Temperature sensors (such as thermocouples) may drift after prolonged use, resulting in inaccurate temperature display and affecting the heating rate and flash point determination.
Leakage of gas system: Aging of gas connecting pipelines, valves or sealing rings may cause gas leakage or insufficient gas supply, posing a safety hazard.
Control panel malfunction: Electronic components may become damp, accumulate dust, or experience circuit aging, which can lead to touch failure, program lag, or false alarms.
Corrosion of sample cup: Metal sample cups may experience oxidation, scratches, or deformation on the surface due to long-term contact with oil or solvents, which can affect the repeatability of testing.
2、 Key component replacement strategy
Regular inspection and evaluation
It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the instrument every six months, including the ignition system, temperature control module, air interface, and control unit, to record the operating status of each component and detect potential aging trends in advance.
Replace vulnerable parts periodically
It is recommended to replace the ignition electrode once a year;
Temperature sensors should be sent for inspection or replacement every two years;
The air seal ring and hose can be replaced every 6-12 months according to the frequency of use;
If the control panel malfunctions, it should be promptly repaired or replaced by contacting the manufacturer.
Use original factory accessories
To ensure compatibility and measurement accuracy, original parts should be prioritized for replacement to avoid performance degradation or equipment damage caused by non-standard parts.
Establish and maintain archives
Detailed records of the time, model, reason, and personnel information for each component replacement, forming a complete maintenance file for later traceability and management.
  Closed flash point testerAs a precision analytical equipment, its aging problem is inevitable, but through scientific monitoring methods and reasonable replacement strategies, the service life of the equipment can be effectively extended, ensuring the stability and safety of test data. Laboratory managers should attach great importance to daily maintenance work, develop periodic replacement plans based on usage intensity, and ensure that equipment is always in good operating condition, thereby improving overall testing efficiency and quality level.
