What should I do if the automatic lifting rotary evaporator evaporates? Detailed solution sharing
Date: 2023-12-30Read: 0
1Automatic lifting rotary evaporatorHow to handle after steaming dry

When using the automatic lifting rotary evaporator, in order to obtain a purer sample, it is necessary to continuously heat and evaporate the solvent until the sample is reduced to a certain degree. Sometimes, the sample may be completely evaporated due to misoperation, insufficient sample solvent, and other reasons. At this point, we need to adopt corresponding handling methods based on different situations.

1. The sample is not organic matter
If the non organic sample is evaporated, it is necessary to clean the inside of the rotary evaporator, replace it with a new reagent, and conduct the experiment.
2. The sample is organic matter
For samples that have evaporated organic matter, the rotary evaporator needs to be turned off first. Do not turn on the instrument while it is heated. Then it is necessary to add a certain amount of solvent again, preferably the solvent previously used, to dissolve the evaporated sample again. If the previously used solvent is not sufficient for dissolution, new solvent needs to be added and stirred at an appropriate temperature until it is completely dissolved.
2、 Preventive measures for using rotary evaporator
In order to avoid the situation where the sample is evaporated by the rotary evaporator, we need to take some preventive measures.
1. Do not add too many samples
The sample needs to be added in moderation. Excessive sample not only prolongs the evaporation time, but also easily causes insufficient solvent in the sample, resulting in the sample evaporating dry.
2. The solvent in the sample should be sufficient
When adding the sample, pay attention to whether the solvent to be dissolved in the sample is sufficient. If it is insufficient, it needs to be added in a timely manner. At the same time, it is also necessary to pay attention to whether the solvent in the rotary evaporator is sufficient and whether the added new solvent meets the experimental requirements.
3. Control heating temperature and heating time
Heating temperature and heating time are two important factors that affect the evaporation effect of a rotary evaporator and need to be strictly controlled. Generally speaking, the temperature should be below the boiling point of the sample and gradually increase, and the time should not be too long. It is best to gradually adjust until the optimal state is reached.
In short, when using a rotary evaporator, extra attention should be paid to strictly follow the operating procedures to avoid the occurrence of evaporation caused by misoperation. Once a drying situation occurs, measures should be taken promptly to avoid affecting the experimental results.
