Calibration Specification for Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine
Date: 2025-12-15Read: 1
Zeiss Coordinate Measuring MachineThe calibration should follow international standards and equipment specific operating procedures, with the core focus on measuring needle calibration and geometric accuracy calibration, while controlling key elements such as environmental conditions and calibration cycles. The following are detailed specifications:
Preparation specifications before calibration
Environmental condition calibration: It is necessary to stabilize the environmental temperature at 20 ± 0.5 ℃ and control the relative humidity at 45% -65% to avoid temperature fluctuations and abnormal humidity affecting calibration accuracy. At the same time, the equipment needs to operate stably in this environment for more than 24 hours to ensure that it reaches a thermal equilibrium state. In addition, it is necessary to stay away from vibration sources and strong electromagnetic interference equipment to prevent external factors from interfering with calibration data.
Inspection of Instruments and Equipment: Equip with standard balls, measuring blocks, and other instruments that have been verified and qualified by national metrology institutions, and verify the validity of their verification certificates to accurately record key parameters such as the theoretical diameter of the standard balls. When installing the measuring needle, align the black markings on the RDS rotating head and probe suction cup to ensure a secure installation. At the same time, check that the measuring needle and extension rod are not deformed or worn, and that the standard ball is installed firmly without looseness. In addition, it is necessary to turn on the device and check whether the control system and software are running normally. Calibration can only begin after there are no abnormal errors.
Core Calibration Operating Standards
Needle calibration: This is the core calibration process. First, create a measurement program in Calypso software, activate the temperature compensation function, and input the actual temperature values of the workpiece and X, Y, Z gratings. Next, install the main probe and select the corresponding probe in the software. Fix the standard ball at specified angle positions such as 45 ° and 135 °. Start the reference ball positioning through the software, set the detection speed to 100%, and manipulate the probe to detect a point along the axis of the calibration ball. The device will automatically run calibration. A single measuring needle needs to be calibrated at least 6 times, with an observed S value less than 0.0005, and a diameter similar to the usual calibration value with good repeatability; When calibrating the position of multiple measuring needles, it is also necessary to detect the changes in the center coordinates of each measuring needle's standard sphere. The normal range of variation should be between 1-3 μ m.
Geometric accuracy calibration: Following the ISO10360-2 international standard, measuring blocks of different lengths are selected to perform length measurement error detection at different positions and directions in the equipment working area. The number of measurement points should not be less than 25 to cover the entire working space. Simultaneously measure the same feature 20 times in a row to calculate the standard deviation and evaluate measurement repeatability; Measure with a standard ball in different directions and positions to check the consistency of the detection system and ensure that the geometric accuracy meets the technical specifications of the equipment.
Verification and recording standards after calibration
Result verification: After calibration is completed, it is necessary to retest the standard ball or gauge block with the calibrated measuring needle to verify the repeatability and consistency of the data. If the S value exceeds the standard or the center coordinates of the ball fluctuate too much, it is necessary to recheck the installation of the measuring needle and the position of the standard ball, and recalibrate if necessary. At the same time, evaluate the measurement uncertainty according to the JJF1059 standard and analyze the error components caused by factors such as equipment and environment.
Archive retention: Detailed records of calibration information, including calibration date, operator, environmental parameters, standard instrument information, calibration data, uncertainty assessment results, etc. Establish a complete calibration file to ensure data traceability, and keep calibration records properly for future verification and traceability.
Calibration cycle and subsequent management standards
Clear calibration cycle: In daily use, the measuring needle needs to be recalibrated every two weeks; If there are situations such as needle collision or significant changes in ambient temperature, calibration should be carried out immediately. Geometric accuracy calibration should be conducted at least once a year. If the equipment is used in high-precision industries such as aerospace, the cycle can be shortened. At the same time, it needs to be compared and verified with external authoritative institutions once a year.
Subsequent maintenance management: The calibrated standard instruments need to be regularly inspected, and a periodic verification system should be established to monitor their stability. If any abnormal equipment is found during calibration, it should be stopped for maintenance in a timely manner. After the fault is eliminated, it can be recalibrated and put into use only after passing the inspection. In addition, calibration personnel need to possess professional qualifications, be proficient in standards such as ISO10360 and VDI/VDE2617, and receive regular professional training.
