Troubleshooting of Oxyfern FDA: Common Problems and Solutions
Date: 2025-10-29Read: 1
In the fields of water treatment, aquaculture, and environmental monitoring, oxyferm FDA dissolved oxygen sensors are key equipment for obtaining dissolved oxygen concentration data in water. However, due to long-term immersion in water and complex working conditions, these sensors may experience various malfunctions, affecting the accuracy and reliability of measurements. This article will provide a detailed introduction to several common problems with dissolved oxygen sensors and their corresponding solutions, helping users quickly restore the normal operation of the equipment.
1、 Unstable readings - environmental interference or electrode contamination
When the dissolved oxygen meter displays frequent fluctuations in values, the first thing to consider is the interference caused by external environmental factors. Rapid water flow may lead to the formation of local eddies, resulting in uneven distribution of oxygen; And sudden temperature changes can also cause sensitivity changes. At this point, it is advisable to choose a stable and undisturbed location to install the probe, and ensure that the water is thoroughly mixed and even. In addition, the accumulation of dirt on the electrode surface is also an important cause of signal jumping. Regularly use a soft cloth to gently wipe the surface of the membrane to remove attached algae, sediment, and other impurities. For stubborn stains, soak them briefly in dilute hydrochloric acid solution and immediately rinse them with clean water, being careful not to damage sensitive components.
2、 Zero drift - caused by calibration deficiency
Long term useOxyferm FDADissolved oxygen sensors are prone to baseline deviation, which means they still display high readings in known low oxygen environments. This is usually caused by electrolyte depletion or aging of the permeable membrane. The key to solving such problems is to conduct regular two-point calibration: first, place the sensor in an oxygen free solution (such as sodium sulfite solution) to adjust the zero point, and then set the upper range limit in saturated air water. Follow the calibration process provided by the manufacturer to ensure that each operation is accurate and error free. If it cannot be restored to normal after multiple calibrations, it may be due to internal component damage and a new electrode module needs to be replaced.
3、 Slow response - membrane blockage or electrolyte drying up
If it is observed that the sensor responds slowly to changes in dissolved oxygen content in water, it is likely due to obstructed diffusion channels or insufficient internal liquid. Check if the breathable membrane is blocked by grease, protein, or other organic matter, and if necessary, use a mild detergent to clean and unclog it. At the same time, confirm whether there is sufficient filling liquid in the electrolyte storage bag. If it is insufficient, follow the instructions to add the specified type of electrolyte solution. It should be noted that the electrolyte composition used for different types of sensors varies, so do not mix them to avoid chemical corrosion.
4、 No output - wiring error or power failure
When encountering a situation where the device suddenly stops working, start troubleshooting from the basic aspects. Check if the power adapter is supplying power normally and if the plug is in good contact; Confirm that all connecting cables have no open or short circuits. Some intelligent sensors with digital interfaces also need to check whether the communication protocol settings are correct, and whether parameters such as baud rate and address code match the requirements of the control system. If all of the above are normal but there is still no signal output, try restarting the device or replacing the backup channel for testing to eliminate the possibility of motherboard failure.
5、 Temperature compensation failure - abnormal temperature sensor
Many dissolved oxygen meters are equipped with automatic temperature compensation function to ensure measurement accuracy at different water temperatures. Once the temperature sensor malfunctions, it can lead to compensation calculation errors, which in turn affect the accuracy of the results. Determine if there is a deviation by comparing the actual water temperature with the temperature value reported by the instrument. If necessary, calibrate the temperature probe separately or replace it directly with a new integrated temperature/dissolved oxygen composite sensor to ensure that the two work together properly.
6、 Preventive maintenance recommendations
In addition to emergency response to specific issues, establishing a routine maintenance plan is equally important. Record the time, results, and adjustment status of each calibration; Regularly replace consumables such as electrolytes, seals, etc; Keep the cables clean and orderly, avoiding excessive bending that may cause internal breakage. For equipment installed outdoors, take shading and rainproof measures to extend its service life.
In summary, by implementing systematic troubleshooting and maintenance management of oxyferm FDA dissolved oxygen sensors, their stability and reliability can be effectively improved, providing accurate data support for the production process. I hope the methods introduced in this article can help users better utilize this important tool, improve work efficiency and product quality.
