How to determine whether the ammonia gas monitoring alarm needs calibration
Date: 2025-12-17Read: 2

Ammonia decomposes into nitrogen and hydrogen at high temperatures, and has a reducing effect. When a catalyst is present, it can be oxidized to nitric oxide. Used for producing liquid nitrogen, ammonia water, nitric acid, ammonium salts, amines, etc. It can be directly synthesized from nitrogen and hydrogen, and can burn the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes of respiratory organs. Inhaling too much can cause lung swelling and even death.

Ammonia gas monitoring and alarm deviceIt is a safety device used to detect the concentration of ammonia in the environment, widely used in industries such as chemical, agricultural, and refrigeration.
To determine whether the ammonia gas monitoring alarm needs calibration, the following key indicators can be used:
1. Time cycle
Regular environment: Calibrate every 6 months.
Chemical workshop: Calibrate every 3 months (ammonia is a generally toxic gas).
High risk environment: If the instrument is frequently exposed to high concentrations of ammonia or extreme temperature and humidity (such as below -20 ℃ or above 60 ℃), it needs to be calibrated once every 1-2 months.
2. Abnormal performance
Slow response: The sensor's response time to standard gases is significantly prolonged.
Numerical drift: In an ammonia free environment, the instrument reading deviates from zero or the span error exceeds ± 3% LEL.
Alarm failure: After inputting standard concentration gas, the alarm is not triggered or the threshold is inaccurate.
3. Environmental changes
Composite disaster: After experiencing extreme environments such as high and low temperatures, wind, rain, and snow, immediate calibration is required.
Pollution interference: After coming into contact with oil stains, corrosive gases, or high humidity environments, the sensitivity of the sensor needs to be checked.
