Introduction to the working principle and maintenance of zero height drop testing machine
Date: 2025-11-21Read: 1
The zero height drop testing machine (also known as the "zero drop testing machine") is a reliability testing device used to simulate the scenario of products falling freely in an instant (with a drop height approaching 0 and a core simulation of "vertical impact" rather than free fall). By instantly releasing the clamped product, it vertically impacts the impact table to evaluate the product and packaging's ability to withstand impact loads. It is widely used in product quality verification in industries such as electronics, packaging, and hardware.
The zero height drop testing machine simulates the free drop process of a product at zero height (initial velocity of zero) or a set height to evaluate its impact resistance and the rationality of packaging design.
working principle
By using a pneumatic/electric clamping mechanism to fix the product at a set height (usually 0-500mm, with the core being "low height instantaneous release"), the clamping device is instantly released, and the product falls vertically under the action of gravity, hitting the impact table below (with interchangeable material), simulating the instantaneous impact that the product experiences during transportation, assembly, and use (such as the collision when the product falls to the ground or is stacked). The equipment achieves testing of different impact strengths by adjusting the material of the impact table, drop height, and clamping method.
Key points for use and maintenance
Product positioning: During testing, the product should be placed in the center of the clamping mechanism to ensure a vertical drop and avoid tilting that may cause the impact point to shift;
Calibration of impact table: Regularly check the flatness of the impact table (once every 3 months), and replace it in a timely manner if deformation occurs, otherwise it will affect the testing accuracy;
Maintenance of clamping mechanism: The pneumatic gripper needs to be regularly lubricated (once every 6 months) to ensure quick and smooth release without jamming;
Safe operation: The protective cover must be closed during testing, and it is forbidden to touch the clamped product with hands to avoid injury from pinching or splashing;
Environmental requirements: The equipment should be placed on a level surface (calibrated with a spirit level) to avoid vibration interference. The working environment should have a temperature of 0-40 ℃ and a humidity of ≤ 85% RH.
