What are the details to follow when using a biaxial tensile testing machine
Date: 2025-12-18Read: 1
The following is a detailed explanation of the use of the biaxial tensile testing machine, covering the operation process, key technical points, and maintenance specifications:
1、 Core preparation before operation
-Personnel and environmental requirements
-Personnel qualifications: Operators need to undergo specialized training and be familiar with equipment structures (such as dual axis fixtures, force sensors, temperature control modules) and emergency shutdown procedures.
-Environmental control: The laboratory temperature should be stable at 20 ± 5 ℃, humidity at 40% -60%, avoiding vibration (amplitude ≤ 0.01mm) and airflow interference. The levelness error of the test bench should be ≤ 0.2mm/m.
-Equipment status check
-System self-test: After startup, execute the self-test program to confirm that there are no errors in the dual axis drive, force value acquisition, and temperature control system, and that the emergency stop button function is normal.
-Consumables verification: Select fixtures based on the material type (such as pneumatic flat mouth fixtures for flexible materials, serrated fixtures for rigid materials), and check that the fixture surface is free of wear or deformation.
-Sample preparation specifications
-Size and form: Cut the sample according to the standard to ensure no cracks or wrinkles, with a size deviation of ≤± 0.1mm.
2、 Key steps of the experimental process
-Parameter setting and calibration
-Software configuration: Enter sample information and test standards (such as GB/T 1040.3-2006), set the tensile mode (synchronous/asynchronous biaxial), rate (0.5-5mm/min for flexible materials, 5-20mm/min for rigid materials), and target strain value.
-Zero point calibration: After holding the sample, click "Zero point calibration" to eliminate the initial stress.
-Loading and Data Collection
-Pre run test: Start the "pre run" to observe whether the dual axis motion is synchronized and stable, and confirm that there is no lag before officially starting.
-Real time monitoring: On duty throughout the process, pay attention to fluctuations in force values and abnormal curves, and prohibit adjusting parameters or touching fixtures midway.
-Ending and Data Processing
-Reset and Cleaning: After the experiment is completed, reset the fixture and use medical alcohol to remove residual debris to avoid biological contamination.
-Data analysis: Export stress-strain curves, calculate parameters such as elastic modulus and fracture strength.
3、 Key operating points for special scenarios
-Temperature and humidity simulation test
-When enabling the temperature control module, it is necessary to preheat/pre cool to the target temperature and stabilize for 30 minutes before installing the sample to reduce thermal stress deviation.
-Aseptic environment testing
-Operating in the ultra clean bench, the fixtures are sterilized at high temperature (121 ℃, 30min) or disinfected with ultraviolet light to prevent sample contamination.
4、 Daily maintenance and safety management
-Preventive maintenance
-Cleaning and lubrication: Clean moving parts such as guide rails and screws daily to avoid dust accumulation.
-Accuracy calibration: Regularly use standard weights to calibrate the force sensor, ensuring an error of ≤± 0.5%.
-Fault response
-Force fluctuation: Check if the sensor wiring is loose or if the fixture is slipping.
-Abnormal noise and lagging: Immediately stop the machine and troubleshoot the ball screw or servo motor.
-Safety ban
-It is strictly prohibited to use beyond the range (≤ 110% of the rated value), operate by non professionals, or forcefully start faulty equipment.
The precise operation of the biaxial tensile testing machine relies on standardized operation and refined maintenance. Strictly following the above process can effectively extend equipment lifespan and ensure data reliability.
