The high and low temperature tensile testing machine integrates mechanical testing and environmental simulation, and can test the mechanical properties of metals, polymers, composite materials, etc. in the range of -70 ° C to+350 ° C. It is widely used in the fields of aerospace, new energy, automobiles, and new material research and development. However, under the dual effects of alternating hot and cold temperatures and high loads, equipment is prone to problems such as temperature runaway, sensor drift, fixture slippage, or seal failure. Scientific response to high and low temperature tensile testing machine failures is necessary to ensure accurate data and equipment safety.

Problem 1: The temperature inside the box cannot reach the set value or fluctuates too much
Reason: Refrigeration/heating system malfunction, door seal aging and air leakage, sample overload or blocked air circulation.
Countermeasure:
Check whether the compressor is started and whether the refrigerant is leaking (listen for abnormal noise, measure height and low pressure);
Replace the silicone door seal to ensure that the test chamber door is tightly closed;
Avoid the sample volume being too large to obstruct the air duct, ensuring even circulation of hot and cold air;
Regularly clean the surface dust of the evaporator and heating wire to improve heat transfer efficiency.
Problem 2: Abnormal tension data (jumping, zero drift, poor repeatability)
Reason: The force sensor is affected by temperature drift, loose leads, or not preheated for calibration.
Countermeasure:
Preheat the device for at least 30 minutes to balance the sensor with the ambient temperature;
Perform "auto zero" or "temperature compensation calibration" at the current test temperature;
Check whether the sensor wiring terminals are oxidized and loose, and tighten or replace the shielding wire if necessary;
Avoid testing immediately after switching to the extreme temperature, and maintain a constant temperature for 10-15 minutes before loading.
Problem 3: Fixture slippage or abnormal specimen fracture location in high and low temperature environments
Reason: Wear of the clamping surface, insufficient clamping force, or failure to adapt to the fixture material due to low-temperature embrittlement.
Countermeasure:
Replace specialized clamping blocks with tooth patterns or coatings (such as tungsten carbide surfaces);
Adjust the clamping force according to the material characteristics (polymer materials need to prevent crushing, metals need to prevent slipping);
During low-temperature testing, use cold resistant and brittle alloy fixtures to prevent ordinary steel parts from becoming brittle and cracking;
For thin film or fiber samples, pneumatic or wedge-shaped self-locking fixtures are used to enhance stability.
Question 4: Severe frosting inside the test chamber or fogging of the observation window
Reason: Moisture brought in with the sample, frequent opening of doors, or failure of dehumidification function.
Countermeasure:
Dry the sample as much as possible before placing it to avoid introducing liquid water;
Reduce the number of unnecessary door openings and control the opening time within 30 seconds;
Enable the built-in dehumidification module (if any), or activate the "drying" program during the heating phase;
The observation window adopts double-layer hollow electric heating glass, which can be manually defogged.
