Key technical characteristics and application scenarios of online chlorine dioxide analyzer
Date: 2025-09-22Read: 0
Online chlorine dioxide analyzerIt is a specialized equipment for monitoring the concentration of chlorine dioxide (ClO ₂) in water, widely used in fields such as drinking water disinfection, hospital wastewater treatment, and food processing water. Chlorine dioxide, as an efficient and low toxic disinfectant (with a bactericidal ability 2.5 times that of chlorine gas and not producing carcinogenic trihalomethanes), should be strictly controlled within a safe concentration range (usually 0.1-0.8mg/L for drinking water, too high can irritate the respiratory tract and corrode pipelines).
1、 Key technical features:
1. Advanced detection principle: The mainstream uses "DPD spectrophotometry" or "electrochemical method". The DPD method (N, N-diethyl-phenylenediamine method) generates a red compound by reacting chlorine dioxide with DPD reagent. The absorbance is measured at a wavelength of 515nm using a spectrophotometer, and the absorbance is proportional to the concentration (accuracy ± 0.02mg/L); The electrochemical method generates a current (with an accuracy of ± 0.05mg/L) through the oxidation-reduction reaction of chlorine dioxide on the surface of a specific electrode (such as a gold electrode), but it is susceptible to interference from chlorine gas (Cl ₂) (requiring a dechlorination device).
2. Strong anti-interference ability: Chlorine dioxide is prone to react with organic matter, chlorine gas, and ammonia nitrogen in water. It is recommended to use a "pretreatment module" (such as activated carbon filtration to remove organic matter and membrane separation to remove chlorine gas) and a "selective membrane electrode" (allowing only ClO ₂ to pass through) to reduce interference and ensure that the measurement results only reflect the concentration of the target substance.
3. Real time and stability: Continuous flow injection analysis (FIA) technology is used, and the water sample and reagent are mixed in proportion for immediate detection, with a response time of ≤ 2 minutes (traditional manual detection requires more than 30 minutes); Built in temperature compensation circuit (correcting the reaction rate with temperature changes) and calibration reminder function (automatically prompting calibration every 7 days), long-term operating error ≤ ± 3%.
4. Intelligent management: Supports 4-20mA current signals, Modbus RTU protocol output, and can be connected to PLC or SCADA systems; Equipped with over limit alarm (such as triggering buzzer and LED flashing when concentration>0.8mg/L) and data storage (recording 3-month historical data), meeting the requirements of automation control.

2、 Application scenario adaptation:
Drinking water treatment: Installed after the chlorine dioxide dosing system (such as at the inlet of a clean water tank), real-time monitoring of disinfectant concentration (national standards require residual chlorine in factory water to be ≥ 0.05mg/L and chlorine dioxide to be ≤ 0.8mg/L) is carried out to ensure disinfection effectiveness while avoiding excessive residue.
Hospital wastewater disinfection: used for the treatment of infectious disease area wastewater (chlorine dioxide dosage is usually 1-3mg/L), online monitoring can prevent incomplete virus inactivation (insufficient concentration) or pipeline corrosion (high concentration), and ensure that the discharged water meets the standard (residual chlorine ≤ 0.5mg/L).
Food processing water: In scenarios with high hygiene requirements such as beverage and dairy factories, monitoring the concentration of chlorine dioxide in cleaning water (0.05-0.2mg/L) can kill bacteria without affecting food taste (avoiding chlorine residue).
Industrial circulating water: Some industries (such as papermaking and textiles) use chlorine dioxide instead of chlorine gas for sterilization (to avoid generating harmful by-products), and online analyzers help control the dosage (0.1-0.5mg/L), balancing sterilization efficiency and equipment protection.
Online chlorine dioxide analyzerWith its precise detection principle, strong anti-interference ability, and intelligent management function, it has become the "key eye" to ensure disinfection safety and process optimization, providing reliable technical support for water safety in various industries.
