Application fields of Tappi method and fast Kaiser method
Date: 2025-09-16Read: 1

1. Basic principles and structure:

(1)TappiMethod (Standard Paper Forming Machine): Adopting the principle of dynamic molding. The slurry is kept uniformly suspended in the cylindrical forming machine by vigorous stirring, and then quickly discharged from the bottom. It is then formed into paper sheets on a circular screen through instantaneous pressure relief and mesh filtration. The whole process was turbulent and the time was very short.

(2)Quick Kaiser Method: Adopting the principle of static (or semi static) molding. After the slurry is injected into a sealed forming chamber, it is left to settle for a moment to allow the fibers to fully disperse and suspend, and then slowly drained through the bottom sieve to form. Its core structure is a square forming chamber that can prepare square paper sheets.

2. Core differences and paper impact:

(1)Fiber orientation(Orientation): This is the fundamental difference between the two.TappiThe rapid drainage process of the method will produce a significant fiber orientation effect (usually arranged along the drainage direction), resulting in significant differences in the longitudinal and transverse strength of the paper. The rapid settling and slow drainage of the Kessel method cause the fibers to settle in a calm state, resulting in a more random and uniform distribution of paper fibers, with a longitudinal to transverse strength ratio that is closer1:1The anisotropy is small.

(2)Paper structure: TappiThe difference between the two sides of the paper formed by the method is relatively obvious; The rapid Kaiser rule produces paper sheets with a more uniform structure, closer to large-scale paper, and smaller double-sided properties.

(3)Efficiency and operation: TappiThe molding speed is extremely fast; The rapid Kesselt method requires static dispersion and has a slightly longer cycle, but usually has a higher degree of automation.

3. Application fields:

(1)TappiLaw: Long history, yesTAPPITheISOTraditional methods based on international standards. Widely used in North America and other regions for quality control, comparative testing, etc., but its obvious anisotropy is considered an inherent defect.

(2)Quick Kaiser Method: yesISOThe standard new recommendation method is widely adopted, especially in Europe. Due to its good paper uniformity and low anisotropy, it is more suitable for precise scientific research, accurate evaluation of paper physical properties (such as tensile strength, burst resistance, etc.), and experiments that require simulation of paper properties.

In summary, the fast Kaiser method overcomes the challenges of static and slow drainage processesTappiThe disadvantage of directional arrangement of fibers is that it can produce more uniform and isotropic paper sheets, and its test results can better represent the overall performance of the paper. Therefore, it is gradually becoming a new trend in international standards. ButTappiThe law, with its fast and traditional status, still holds applications in many fields.
