What safety precautions should be taken when using a constant temperature stirring water bath?
Date: 2025-09-13Read: 1

Constant temperature stirring water bathTransfer heat through a water bath medium to avoid local overheating caused by direct heating, especially suitable for isothermal and heating scenarios in culture media and enzyme reaction systems. This device can achieve precise temperature control and uniform heating of samples, and is widely used in fields such as chemistry, biology, medicine, and food.

Constant temperature stirring water bathSafety precautions:

1. Prevent dry burning and overheating:

It is strictly prohibited to turn on the device when there is no medium or insufficient medium; If the device triggers an "anti dry burn alarm", it needs to be powered off first, supplemented with media, and then restarted;

The set temperature cannot exceed the boiling point of the medium (for example, the boiling point of water is 100 ℃. If it needs to be higher than 100 ℃, the thermal oil/silicone oil needs to be replaced as the medium, and the applicable temperature range of the equipment needs to be confirmed).

2. Anti scalding and electric leakage:

Wear insulated gloves during operation to avoid hand contact with the outer wall or medium of the high-temperature water bath;

If there are signs of electrical leakage in the equipment, it is necessary to immediately cut off the power and contact professional personnel for maintenance. Do not disassemble it by yourself.

3. Media selection and usage:

Low temperature constant temperature (≤ 100 ℃): Priority should be given to using water (low cost, easy to clean), and flammable liquids such as alcohol and gasoline are prohibited (which can easily cause explosions);

High temperature constant temperature (>100 ℃): Special high-temperature heat transfer oil/silicone oil (such as above 200 ℃) should be used, and attention should be paid to the flash point of the heat transfer oil (to avoid exceeding the flash point and causing combustion). After use, it should be sealed and stored (to prevent oxidation).

4. Sample container requirements:

Prohibit the use of damaged or heat-resistant containers (such as thin-walled glass tubes and plastic cups) to avoid sample leakage and medium contamination caused by container rupture;

The sample in the container should not be filled too full (it is recommended not to exceed the container capacity)2/3), to prevent the sample from expanding and overflowing during heating.
