As the core monitoring component of oxygen production equipment, the oxygen bar flowmeter plays a crucial role in real-time display of oxygen supply flow rate and ensuring oxygen safety. Its operational stability directly affects user experience and venue compliance. Starting from five typical fault scenarios, analyze the causes and provide targeted solutions.
1、 The display screen has no reading or values jumping around
Fault characteristics: The screen does not light up, displays a "-" or the value frequently flashes and jumps after turning on.
Core incentives:
Power supply abnormality: The power adapter is damaged or has poor contact, resulting in insufficient power supply to the motherboard;
Signal interference: Strong electromagnetic fields nearby (such as motors and frequency converters) interfere with sensor signal transmission;
Circuit failure: Aging or moisture damage to motherboard components causing short circuits.
Solution:
Replace the original power adapter and use a multimeter to check if the output voltage matches;
Keep the flowmeter away from large electrical equipment and install a shielding cover if necessary;
Disassemble the back cover and inspect the solder joints of the circuit board. If burn marks are found, they need to be returned to the factory for repair.
2、 Severe zero drift (there is still flow display even when there is no actual airflow)
Fault feature: When oxygen is not connected, the flow meter still displays a continuous flow value.
Core incentives:
Sensor pollution: long-term exposure to dust environment, impurities adhere to the surface of hot film/ultrasonic sensors;
Sealing failure: The rubber ring of the intake interface has aged and cracked, causing external air to seep in;
Sudden temperature and humidity changes: The large temperature difference between day and night causes internal stress deformation, affecting the sensor baseline.
Solution:
Turn off the gas source, remove the sensor and wipe it with alcohol (corrosive cleaning agents are prohibited);
Replace the O-ring seal and reinforce the threaded connection with raw tape;
Activate the "zero calibration" function (some models require long pressing the SET button for 3 seconds) to re-establish the initial reference.
3、 The flow indication is low and unstable
Fault characteristics: When the set value is 5L/min, the actual display is only 3-4L/min, accompanied by slight fluctuations.
Core incentives:
Filter blockage: The pre filter accumulates particulate matter, limiting the gas flow area;
Rotor jamming: The internal rotor bearings of the mechanical pointer flowmeter are dry and worn due to lack of oil;
Pipeline bending: Excessive bending of the gas pipeline generates additional resistance.
Solution:
Remove the filter and rinse it in reverse with clean water. After drying, reinstall it;
Remove the flowmeter casing and add clock specific lubricating oil to the rotor bearing;
Replace the flexible hose to ensure that the bending radius of the pipeline is ≥ 5cm.
4、 Sudden high traffic alarm (automatic surge without operation)
Fault characteristics: During normal use, an over limit alarm is suddenly triggered, and the flow rate instantly reaches its maximum value.
Core incentives:
Control valve malfunction: The solenoid valve is stuck by foreign objects and cannot shut off the airflow normally;
Sensor damage: glass tube rupture or probe detachment, resulting in false measurement;
Program disorder: Due to voltage fluctuations, the parameters of the microcontroller system are disrupted.
Solution:
Urgently cut off the main valve, disassemble the solenoid valve to clean impurities;
Check the firmness of sensor installation and replace damaged parts;
Disconnect the power cord and wait for 1 minute before restarting. If necessary, restore the factory settings.
5、 Accumulated usage statistics error
Fault feature: After a single oxygen inhalation, the accumulated time/dosage does not match the actual amount.
Core incentives:
Clock battery depletion: The power supply of the built-in RTC clock module is interrupted, resulting in inaccurate timing;
Pulse signal loss: Flow meter spokes block optocoupler, resulting in missing counting pulses;
Software BUG: Compatibility issues between old and new versions of the program result in data overflow.
Solution:
Replace the CR2032 button battery and calibrate the current time synchronously;
Adjust the position of the optocoupler to ensure that a complete square wave signal is generated for each rotation of the turntable;
Contact the manufacturer to upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
The daily maintenance of oxygen bar flow meters should follow the principle of "checking the appearance daily, cleaning the filter screen weekly, and calibrating the zero point monthly". For intelligent models equipped with electronic control, it is recommended to conduct a full chain self check every quarter, with a focus on air tightness and anti-interference ability. When encountering complex faults, professional engineers should be contacted in a timely manner to avoid secondary damage caused by self disassembly.
