Calibration and debugging methods for steady-state solar simulator
Date: 2025-04-29Read: 4
As the core equipment for photovoltaic device performance testing, the debugging and calibration accuracy of steady-state solar simulator directly affects the reliability of test results. This article will systematically explain the standardized operation process of a steady-state solar simulator from the aspects of system composition, key technical indicators, debugging process, and calibration methods.
1、 Core composition and technical specifications of equipment
(1) System composition
The steady-state solar simulator mainly consists of a light source system, an optical integrator, a filter module, an irradiation adjustment device, a temperature control system, and a calibration unit. among which
-Light source system: using high-pressure xenon lamps or LED arrays, covering the ultraviolet to near-infrared band (300-2500nm)
-Optical integrator: achieving uniform distribution of light intensity through prism array
-AM1.5 Filter: Accurately Simulate the Solar Spectrum of Atmospheric Mass 1.5
-Radiation regulation module: achieve irradiance regulation through neutral density filter or PWM dimming
-Temperature control system: maintain the temperature of the testing chamber within the range of 25 ± 2 ℃
(2) Key performance indicators
1. Spectral matching degree: Deviation from standard solar spectrum (ASTM E927) is ≤± 25%
2. Uniformity of irradiation: The difference in irradiance within the effective testing area is ≤± 2%
3. Radiation stability: fluctuation within 1 hour ≤± 1%
4. Spatial uniformity: The test area with a diameter of ≥ 100mm meets the IEC 60904-9 standard
2、 Debugging and Calibration Process
(1) Initial state check
1. Mechanical calibration:
-Adjust the focus position of the light source to make the center of the light spot perpendicular to the test plane
-Check the arrangement of integrator prisms to ensure there is no deviation or obstruction
2. Electrical testing:
-Verify the trigger voltage of the xenon lamp (usually 20-30 kV)
-Test the consistency of LED array driving current (deviation<3%)
(2) Spectral matching calibration
1. Reference spectrum collection:
-Collect raw spectra using a calibration grade spectrometer (such as AvaSpec-ULS2048)
-Establish a deviation curve by comparing the standard solar spectrum (AM1.5G, 1000W/m ²)
2. Optimization of filter system:
-Combining UG5/GG495 filters to correct the ultraviolet band
-Adjust the parameters of the infrared cut-off filter and control the proportion of bands above 850nm
3. Iterative verification:
-By adjusting the filter angle multiple times, the spectral weighted matching degree reaches A (Δ<15%)
(3) Uniformity adjustment of irradiance
1. Grid testing:
-Divide the test plane into a 10 × 10 grid and measure point by point using a calibration grade reference cell (such as PV Reference Cell, Class AA)
-Record the maximum value (Vmax), minimum value (Vmin), and standard deviation (σ)
2. Uniformity optimization:
-Adjust the height of the integrator and change the divergence angle of the light rays
-Fine tune the angle of the secondary reflector to compensate for edge attenuation
-Typical adjustment parameters: integrator distance from test surface 150-200mm, divergence angle ± 1.5 °
3. Verification criteria:
-Uniformity coefficient U=(1- σ/Vavg) × 100%>98%
(4) Quantitative calibration of irradiance
1. Reference battery method:
-Select calibration grade reference batteries that have been traced by NIST (such as Fraunhofer ISE # 535)
-Measure the short-circuit current Isc under standard test conditions (STC, 25 ℃/1000W/m ²)
-Calculate the actual irradiance E=Isc/K based on the reference battery sensitivity K (μ A/(W/m ²))
2. Dosimeter calibration:
-Use chemical dosimeters (such as Robertson Berger test strips) for radiation accumulation verification
-Compare the theoretical exposure with the measured value, and the error should be less than ± 3%
(5) Temperature control calibration
1. Temperature control of the chamber:
-Set PID parameters for temperature control system (typical values: P=50%, I=0.5, D=0.1)
-Monitor the temperature of the cavity through PT100 sensor, and the fluctuation should be<± 0.5 ℃/min
2. Sample temperature monitoring:
-Arrange a thermocouple array on the testing plane to monitor the surface temperature field of the sample in real-time
-Activate the active cooling system (water-cooled/Peltier) and maintain the sample temperature at 25 ± 1 ℃
3、 Key points for debugging in special scenarios
(1) Pulse testing mode
1. Adjust the flash frequency of the xenon lamp (typical 1-20Hz)
2. Synchronize triggering oscilloscope to collect transient response of battery
3. Verify pulse width and rise time (tr<1ms)
(2) Multispectral simulation
1. Switch the tunable filter group (such as 400-1100nm sub-band)
2. Spectral power distribution calibration by band division (CIE S0.5 classification)
3. Verify angle insensitivity (incident angle variation ± 60 °, output fluctuation<5%)
4、 Quality Assurance System
1. Regular maintenance:
-Replace xenon lamp every 200 hours
-Clean the integrator prism monthly (wipe with alcohol)
-Annual reference battery inspection (NPL/JCRPR laboratory)
2. Uncertainty analysis:
-Extended uncertainty U ≤ 2.5% (k=2)
-Main contribution sources: reference battery stability (35%), spectral mismatch (25%), uniformity measurement (20%)
3. Exception handling:
-Check the cooling water flow rate during irradiation mutation (>3L/min)
-Clean the surface of the filter during spectral shift (without fiber residue)
