Monitoring and replacement cycle management of grinding head wear of cement mortar wear-resistant testing machine
Date: 2025-11-14Read: 1
Cement sand abrasion resistance testing machineUsed to determine the wear resistance of cement-based materials, the wear state of the core component - the grinding head - directly affects the accuracy of the test results. Therefore, establishing a scientific wear monitoring mechanism for grinding heads and a reasonable replacement cycle management system are crucial for ensuring the consistency of experimental data and the service life of equipment.
Grinding heads are usually made of high hardness alloy steel or tungsten carbide, and long-term friction with high-speed rotating rubber sand specimens inevitably results in wear. When there are pits, scratches, or a diameter reduction on the surface of the grinding head that exceeds the allowable tolerance (usually ± 0.1 mm), the pressure distribution applied to the specimen will change, resulting in higher or lower wear values. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct a visual inspection of the grinding head after completing 50 sets of experiments, and measure its key dimensions using a micrometer or profilometer.
Furthermore, the concept of "cumulative wear equivalent" can be introduced, which establishes a wear rate model for grinding heads based on historical experimental data. For example, if a certain model of grinding head wears an average of 0.05 mm per 100 tests under standard conditions, it can be replaced proactively before reaching the critical wear amount (such as 0.3 mm) to avoid sudden failure. At the same time, establish a grinding head usage ledger to record information such as number, activation date, usage frequency, and testing results, achieving full lifecycle tracking.

The replacement cycle management should also consider the type of test material. High strength concrete or adhesive sand mixed with hard aggregates will accelerate the wear and tear of the grinding head, and the testing interval should be shortened at this time. In addition, operator training cannot be ignored - incorrect installation methods or overloaded operation can exacerbate abnormal wear and tear.
In addition, it is recommended to include grinding heads in the laboratory measuring instrument management system and regularly submit them for inspection or comparative verification. Only through systematic monitoring and management can we ensure that the wear resistance test results of cement mortar truly reflect the material properties and provide reliable basis for engineering quality control.
