Since Beckman Corporation officially launched the commercial UV visible spectrophotometer in 1945, its technology, products, and development have been very rapid. At present, it is one of the few widely used and covered analytical instruments in the world, and has been widely applied in scientific research, production, teaching and other fields such as life sciences, materials science, environmental science, agricultural science, metrology science, food science, geological science, petroleum science, medical and health care, steel metallurgy, chemical engineering, etc.
At present, there is a lot of information on the technology and application of UV visible spectrophotometers, but there is still a lack of information on this aspect, which is exactly what many professionals in the industry need. The planning and writing of the "Research Report on UV Visible Spectrophotometers Used in Chinese Laboratories (2018 Edition)" by Instrument Information Network is also an attempt to fill some gaps in this area.
The "Research Report on UV Visible Spectrophotometers Used in Chinese Laboratories (2018 Edition)" elaborates on the scale, segmentation in different dimensions, main brands, product models, user distribution in different dimensions, user procurement and usage behavior, and related upstream industries of UV visible spectrophotometers used in Chinese laboratories, aiming to reflect the overall picture of UV visible spectrophotometers used in Chinese laboratories.
The completion of this report took over six months, with nearly 3000 users of UV visible spectrophotometers and more than 20 industry experts effectively participating in the preliminary research stage of this report in various forms. Here, Instrument Information Network expresses sincere gratitude to them!
Given that conducting research on analytical instruments in China is a highly challenging task, especially in obtaining authentic and reliable data, coupled with the limitations of the author's level, there are inevitably omissions and errors in the report. We warmly welcome readers and relevant experts to criticize and correct us.
Excerpts from the report
....
From this survey, it can be found that although the annual growth rate of UV visible spectrophotometers has remained stable in recent years, the annual sales volume is still very large, with tens of thousands of units. Moreover, there are numerous brands in this area with fierce competition. Although it is still monopolized by imported brands, some domestic brands can already compete with imported brands in China. Of course, this survey also found that in some key components (such as PMT) and important accessories (such as integrating spheres) of UV visible spectrophotometers, domestic instruments still heavily rely on imports, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in this area.
Due to the development of UV visible spectrophotometer as a popular analytical instrument, its user distribution is extremely wide and the number is huge. This survey also confirms this point. But there are still some uncertain factors as to whether this trend will continue indefinitely. This survey also found that in some key subdivisions, such as food and pharmaceuticals, many analysis projects that were originally undertaken by UV visible spectrophotometers have gradually shifted to analytical technologies such as chromatography and mass spectrometry. Therefore, the future development trend of UV visible spectrophotometers cannot be said to be optimistic.
Although UV visible spectrophotometry is a highly developed analytical technology, if it stagnates, it is difficult to guarantee that it will not be replaced by other analytical techniques in the future. So, for instrument manufacturers with long-term development plans, continuing to innovate in technology to constantly meet the new needs of existing users, or seeking to explore new application areas, should be a problem that they are already thinking about.
