The function and principle of Guifeng Pillar
Date: 2025-09-20Read: 0
Guifeng PillarIt is a chromatographic column specifically designed to capture and eliminate ghost peaks in liquid chromatography analysis, mainly used in the field of liquid chromatography analysis. In industries such as drug analysis, environmental monitoring, and food safety, ghost peak columns can help improve the accuracy and reliability of analysis results when high-precision separation and detection of samples are required.
Ghost peak refers to the additional chromatographic peak generated by non sample components during chromatographic analysis, mainly derived from:
Mobile phase pollution: impurities in organic/aqueous phases, buffer salt precipitation, pollutants introduced by mobile phase bottles or mixing processes.
System residues: degradation of chromatographic columns, contamination of injection ports, aging of connecting pipelines, etc.
Sample preparation issue: Impurities or matrix effects in the sample.
Ghost summit interferes with the detection of target compounds, reducing the accuracy and repeatability of analytical results, especially in trace or ultra trace analysis, which has a significant impact. The ghost peak column captures these impurities to protect the main analysis column and improve data quality.
  Guifeng PillarThe principle of action:
Adsorption effect: Ghost peak columns are usually filled with special stationary phases (such as activated carbon, silica gel matrix modified fillers), which selectively capture impurities in the mobile phase through physical adsorption or chemical reactions.
Pre protection: installed after the convergence outlet of the gradient mixer or pump and before the sampler, as the first line of defense of the system, to prevent impurities from entering the main analytical column and extend its service life.
Gradient compatibility: Under gradient elution conditions, the ghost peak column can balance the elution ability of the mobile phase in the initial stage, avoid impurity enrichment in the chromatographic column head, and reduce the formation of ghost peaks.
