Timely resolution of faults in online fluoride ion analyzers is the key to ensuring monitoring reliability
Date: 2025-11-24Read: 0

As a key equipment for water quality monitoring, online fluoride ion analyzer is widely used in scenarios such as drinking water treatment, semiconductor cleaning wastewater, aluminum electrolysis, and phosphorus chemical industry. It is used to monitor the concentration of fluoride ions (F) in water in real time, ensuring that emissions meet standards or processes are stable. Its core is based on the ion selective electrode (ISE) method, which achieves continuous detection through a measurement system composed of a fluorine electrode and a reference electrode. However, in complex industrial water quality, the equipment is susceptible to interference, pollution, or aging, leading to data drift, slow response, and even failure. Mastering the causes and scientific solutions of typical problems in online fluoride ion analyzers is the key to ensuring monitoring reliability.

1、 Measurement drift or poor repeatability
The main reasons include:
Electrode pollution: Oil stains, suspended solids, or metal ions in water form complexes on the surface of the fluoride electrode sensitive membrane, hindering ion exchange;
Reference electrode blockage: The salt bridge liquid interface is blocked by sediment, resulting in unstable potential.
resolvent:
Regularly activate automatic cleaning programs (such as acid washing+deionized water rinsing); If the pollution is severe, manually disassemble the electrode, soak it in 0.1MHCl for 10 minutes, and then rinse it with ultrapure water; Check if the reference electrode filling solution (usually 3MKCl) is sufficient, replenish and clean the liquid interface in a timely manner.
2、 Slow response speed or no signal
Possible causes include aging of the fluoride electrode, drying of the filling solution, or poor cable contact. The lifespan of fluoride electrodes is usually 6-12 months. If the slope is less than 50mV/decade (theoretical value 59.2mV), a new electrode should be replaced. At the same time, check whether BNC or specialized connectors are oxidized and loose to ensure good shielding.
3、 Calibration failure or large error
Insufficient activation of electrodes before calibration (recommended soaking in 10MNaF solution for 30 minutes); Inaccurate or expired standard solution preparation; The pH of the water sample was not adjusted to 5-6 (using TISAB buffer to mask interfering ions). Be sure to use freshly prepared standard series (such as 0.1, 1, 10mg/L) and ensure that TISAB is added in equal proportion to the sample.
4、 The impact of low temperatures in winter
Low temperature will significantly reduce the electrode response speed. It is recommended to install the online fluoride ion analyzer in an insulated box or select a measuring cell with a constant temperature device to maintain the reaction temperature at 20-25 ℃.
