Cleaning and Disinfection of PCR Tubes
Date: 2025-09-24Read: 2
PCR tubeIt is a key consumable used for nucleic acid amplification in molecular biology experiments, mainly used in conjunction with PCR amplifiers. Its specifications, materials, and design directly affect the experimental results.
Single tube and joint tube:
Single tube: independent packaging, suitable for small-scale experiments.
Linkage: including 8-tube (8-tube), 12 tube, etc., suitable for high-throughput requirements, such as fluorescence quantitative PCR.
Common capacities: 0.1ml, 0.2ml (mainstream), 0.5ml, some special experiments require 1.5ml or larger capacity.
Storage conditions:
‌短期保存‌:
Unused PCR tubes should be sealed and stored in a refrigerator at 4 ℃ to avoid high temperatures or humid environments.
If the used PCR tube needs to be reused, it should be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized at 121 ℃ for 15 minutes.
Long term storage:
It is recommended to store in a dry and dark environment to avoid UV degradation of the material.
The connecting pipe needs to be placed flat to prevent deformation of the pipe cover and a decrease in sealing performance.
Cleaning and disinfection:
Regular cleaning:
Immediately soak in 95% ethanol or 10% cleaning solution for 5 minutes after use to remove any residue.
Stubborn pollution can be wiped off the tube wall with enzyme free cotton swabs to avoid scratching the surface.
After cleaning, use dust-free paper to absorb and dry to prevent water stains from affecting heat conduction.
Special pollution treatment:
Fluorescence pollution: Use compressed air to blow the contact surface of the hot cover to avoid blocking the light path.
Nucleic acid contamination: Cleaning agents without DNase/RNase certification are required.
