Powder compaction density meter (also known as powder density tester) is used to measure the compaction density of powder materials and is commonly used in industries such as chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and food. It simulates the stacking state of powder under certain vibration conditions and measures its density.
Operation steps of powder compaction density meter
Instrument preparation
Confirm whether the equipment is in normal condition, check whether all components are intact, especially the vibration system, density measurement system, feeding system, etc.
Ensure that test slots, measuring cylinders, and other containers are clean and free of impurities to avoid contaminating the test samples.
Calibration equipment
Before starting the test, calibrate according to the instrument manual. Use standard weights, standard samples, etc. for calibration to ensure that the instrument can accurately measure the tap density.
Adjust the vibration frequency and amplitude to meet the standard requirements.
Weigh the sample
Prepare the powder sample to be tested. Ensure that the sample is clean and uniform.
Weigh the initial mass of the sample using a precision balance. Usually, take a certain mass of powder sample (such as 10-100 grams) and record its mass.
Sample addition
Evenly add the powder to be tested into the vibrating container of the instrument. Ensure that the amount of sample added is appropriate and does not exceed the maximum capacity calibrated by the instrument.
If the instrument uses auxiliary feeding tools such as funnels, ensure that the sample is evenly distributed and avoid clumping.
Set vibration parameters
Set vibration time, amplitude, and frequency. These parameters are set according to specific standards or the characteristics of the tested material.
Confirm that the equipment can work stably and avoid excessive external interference affecting the test results.
Start vibration test
Start the vibration density tester and let the sample compact under the set vibration conditions. Normally, the tester will vibrate for a certain period of time (such as a few minutes) to allow the powder to reach its maximum bulk density during the vibration process.
End the test and record the data
After the vibration ends, the instrument will automatically stop and record the volume of the compacted powder.
The instrument usually automatically calculates the tap density of the powder and displays it on the screen. At this point, record the data of vibration density.
Cleaning samples and equipment
After the experiment is completed, take out the sample and clean the container and other related components. For powders that are prone to moisture absorption or clumping, clean them in a timely manner to prevent them from affecting the next test.
Precautions
Sample uniformity: Ensure the uniformity and representativeness of the sample, and avoid test result deviation caused by sample unevenness.
Environmental control: The density of powder samples may be affected by environmental factors such as humidity and temperature, so it is important to maintain a stable testing environment as much as possible.
Regular calibration of equipment: Regularly calibrate and maintain instruments to ensure their accuracy and reliability during long-term operation.
Operator training: Ensure that operators are familiar with the working principle, operating steps, and precautions of the instrument to avoid errors caused by improper operation.
Through these steps, the powder compaction density meter can accurately measure the compaction density of powder materials, providing data support for the subsequent application and process optimization of materials.
