Key points for selecting cryovials

Cryovial tubeMade of transparent polymer polypropylene (PP) material, the O-ring is made of silicone material, tightly sealed, and meets the requirements of air transportation. It is used for biological storage of samples, sample packaging, automation equipment operation, medical research, environmental engineering, pharmaceuticals, food industry, as well as cell biology and molecular biology, animal diseases, etc.
Specifications and Applicable Scenarios:
Common Capacity:
0.5mL: Suitable for trace precious samples (such as rare cell lines, DNA/RNA extracts).
1.5~2.0mL: Common specification, suitable for routine cell cryopreservation and blood sample preservation.
5.0mL: Used for large volume samples (such as tissue blocks, cell suspensions).
Type of pipe cover:
Internal screw cap: Silicone pad enhances sealing and is suitable for long-term storage in liquid nitrogen.
External screw cap: easy to label and operate, suitable for short-term storage in -80 ℃ refrigerators.
Key points for selecting cryovials:
1. Material selection
Cryovials should be made of non-toxic polypropylene (PP) material, which has excellent chemical stability and can withstand extreme temperature ranges from -196 ℃ to 121 ℃, especially suitable for liquid nitrogen phase storage. PP material is not easily brittle in ultra-low temperature environments and can withstand repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
2. Specification matching:
Common specifications include 0.5ml, 1.0ml, 1.8ml, 2.0ml, 5.0ml, etc. Among them, the 2.0ml specification is commonly used. The selection should be based on the sample size, with a sample volume not exceeding 2/3 of the total capacity of the cryovial and reserved expansion space.
3. Sealing design:
Internal rotary cover: with silicone pad, strong sealing, suitable for liquid nitrogen phase storage (-196 ℃), can prevent liquid nitrogen from infiltrating.
External rotary cover: designed without gaskets, easy to mark and open/close, suitable for storage in -80 ℃ ultra-low temperature refrigerators.
