In many fields such as chemical engineering and pharmaceuticals, the purity of hydrogen bromide HBr is crucial as a key raw material or reaction intermediate. The presence of trace amounts of moisture often brings many hidden dangers to subsequent processesGerman CMC Micro Water AnalyzerIt has become a key equipment for accurately detecting trace amounts of moisture in HBr.
The principle of micro water analyzer is based on advanced sensing technology, commonly including capacitive, electrolytic, and dew point types. Taking capacitive sensing as an example, it utilizes the characteristic of changing the dielectric constant of the capacitor after water enters the sensor to sense the moisture content. When HBr gas containing trace amounts of moisture flows through the sensor, the moisture molecules adsorb onto the dielectric between the electrodes, causing a change in capacitance value. This change is then converted and amplified by a precision circuit, ultimately resulting in a readable moisture concentration value.
For the analysis of trace moisture in HBr, extra caution should be exercised during the sample collection process. Due to the strong corrosiveness of HBr, corrosion-resistant materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene must be selected for the sampling pipeline, and good sealing must be ensured to prevent external water vapor from interfering with the measurement results. At the same time, the sampling speed should also be moderate to avoid measurement deviation caused by airflow disturbance due to excessive flow velocity, which may affect the uniformity of moisture distribution.
In the actual measurement process, instrument calibration is a prerequisite for ensuring accuracy. Use a standard humidity generator to generate HBr gas samples with known moisture content to calibrate the analyzer, and repeatedly debug until the reading error is controlled within a very small range. Generally, the relative error should not exceed ± 1% - ± 3%, depending on the accuracy level of the instrument. During daily testing, slowly feed the HBr to be tested into the calibrated analyzer and wait for the reading to stabilize. This process usually takes several minutes to over ten minutes, depending on the instrument's response speed and the initial moisture content in the HBr.
Once the trace moisture exceeds the standard, targeted drying measures can be taken. For example, using freeze-drying method to condense and separate moisture at low temperature; Alternatively, excess water can be removed by filling the column with adsorbents, such as molecular sieves and silica gel. And regular maintenance and upkeep of the micro water analyzer, cleaning of sensors, and replacement of aging components should be carried out to maintain its optimal working condition, continuously providing reliable data support for HBr quality control, ensuring smooth production processes, and reducing the risk of product defects caused by moisture issues.
Note that under no circumstances should the inlet and outlet of the micro water analyzer be confused! Only regulated sample gas can enter the analyzer. If the sample gas is corrosive, please check to ensure that there are no compounds that damage the instrument components. Regularly review all current safety regulations related to sample gas processing, calibration gases, and gas cylinders. For flammable/explosive gases, this instrument should not be used for measurement without any safety precautions.
