From April 26th to 28th, under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology, the Grassland Management Department of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the National Animal Husbandry Station, the "2024 Conference of the Chinese Grassland Society" was held in Nanjing with the theme of "Grassland, Grassland Industry, and Major Undertakings", hosted by the Chinese Grassland Society, undertaken by Nanjing Agricultural University, and co organized by China Agricultural University and the editorial department of the Grassland Journal.

Yan Kuiyou, an expert from the National Animal Husbandry General Station of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Chen Fadi, president of Nanjing Agricultural University, academician of the CAE Member, chairman of the Chinese Society of Grass, Nan Zhibiao of Lanzhou University, Wang Zhaoming, founder of Mengcao Ecological Environment (Group) Co., Ltd. and general director of scientific research of the company, made speeches at the meeting; In the conference report section, four academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Jiabao, Cao Fuliang, Zhang Shaoling, and Zhu Jiaojun, respectively gave wonderful reports on topics such as expanding soil production capacity based on biological empowerment, smart forestry and grass technology innovation, analyzing the current situation of the pear industry and exploring high-quality development paths, and the Three North Project and sand prevention and control.
The conference held 11 sub venues and 3 graduate academic forums for exchange and discussion. Scholars and young scientists from grassland related fields at home and abroad discussed "Opportunities, Challenges, and Efficient Innovation Models of China's Forage Industry Development under the New Situation", "Innovation and Application of Frontier Technologies in Grassland Industry", "Lawn Science and Management under Artificial Intelligence", "Grass Germplasm Creation and Variety Cultivation", "Research and Innovative Utilization of Grass Germplasm Resources", "Theory, Technology, and Methods of High Quality Processing of Grass Products", "Grassland Resource Protection and Sustainable Utilization", "Grassland Agricultural Ecosystem Health and Efficient Management", "Grassland Management under High Level Protection and High Quality Development", "International Year of Grassland and Herdsmen", "Grassland Ecosystem and Global Change". We discussed the topic further
The conference also held the award ceremony for the 2023 Wang Dong Scholarship. Four master's students and six doctoral students from seven universities, including Nanjing Agricultural University, Lanzhou University, China Agricultural University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Guizhou University, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, and Gansu Agricultural University, were awarded the 2023 Wang Dong Scholarship.
