Precautions for using high-pressure hydrothermal synthesis reactor
Date: 2025-05-14Read: 1
High pressure hydrothermal synthesis reactorIt has wide applications in many fields such as materials science, chemical synthesis, and geological research. It can promote various chemical reactions and material synthesis under high-temperature and high-pressure hydrothermal conditions. However, due to the special operating conditions, there are a series of crucial precautions that need to be strictly followed during use to ensure the safety of the experiment and the accuracy of the results.
Before use, a comprehensive and meticulous inspection of the reaction vessel must be carried out. Check whether there are cracks, corrosion or other signs of damage on the kettle body, especially on the sealing parts such as the flange connection between the kettle cover and the kettle body, sealing gaskets, etc. Any small defect may cause leakage in high-pressure environments, leading to serious safety accidents. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that pressure measuring devices, temperature sensors, and other instruments are in normal working condition and calibrated in order to accurately monitor and control pressure and temperature changes during the reaction process.
The loading amount of materials has strict requirements. Cannot exceed the upper capacity limit specified for the reaction vessel, as excessive material filling will result in insufficient space inside the vessel. During the heating and warming process, with the thermal expansion of the substance and the possible generation of gases, it is highly likely to cause a sharp increase in internal pressure, exceeding the capacity of the reaction vessel and posing a risk of explosion. Moreover, the materials loaded should be evenly distributed to avoid uneven heating caused by local accumulation, which may affect the uniformity of the reaction and the quality of the product.

For the setting of reaction conditions, the rate of temperature and pressure rise needs to be carefully controlled. Heating up too quickly can cause the materials inside the kettle to rapidly expand and increase in pressure, which may lead to seal failure or deformation of the kettle body; Improper boosting speed can also have an impact on the reaction system, interfering with the normal progress of the reaction. According to the specific reaction system and experimental requirements, the temperature and pressure should be gradually increased in a progressive manner to allow the reaction system to smoothly transition to the set reaction conditions. Similarly, the cooling and pressure reduction process after the reaction should be gradual to prevent structural damage to the product or material backflow in the reactor due to sudden temperature and pressure changes.
During the reaction process, it is crucial to closely monitor changes in pressure and temperature at all times. Once the pressure or temperature exceeds the preset range or experiences abnormal fluctuations, corresponding measures should be taken immediately, such as stopping heating, turning on the cooling system, or releasing pressure through safety valves. However, it should be noted that the operation of releasing pressure must be slow and orderly to avoid the rapid release of pressure causing the material inside the kettle to spray out or the reaction to lose control.
Cleaning and maintenance are also important aspects that cannot be ignored. After the reaction is completed, promptly clean the residual substances in the kettle to avoid corrosion of the kettle body by chemical substances and cross contamination between different reactions. Regularly conduct comprehensive maintenance on the reaction kettle, check the aging degree of the seals, replace worn parts, etc., to ensure that the reaction kettle is always in good working condition and provide safe and reliable guarantee for the next experiment.
The use of high-pressure hydrothermal synthesis reactors involves multiple key steps, and only by strictly following these precautions can we fully utilize their advantages while ensuring the safety of experimental personnel and obtaining accurate and reliable experimental results.
