Perfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS) are a class of persistent harmful chemicals that are widely present worldwide. Whether evaluating the removal efficiency of PFAS by new treatment technologies, tracking pollution remediation progress, or identifying new pollutants, advanced analytical tools are indispensable for related applications. Although triple quadrupole mass spectrometers can provide the required sensitivity and specificity for most PFAS applications, their maintenance costs are high and typically require larger laboratory space.

The compact and cost-effective Agilent InfinityLab Pro iQ Plus single quadrupole LC/MS system provides a simplified solution for specific application scenarios, suitable for situations where regulatory methods do not need to be followed and/or expected concentrations exceed sub ppb levels. For example, research institutions developing new pollution remediation technologies, or production enterprises that need to monitor PFAS emissions, such as electronics and semiconductor manufacturing plants. In addition, the system has low requirements for laboratory conditions and can be easily deployed even with limited supporting facilities for mass spectrometry. This system, in conjunction with Agilent OpenLab CDS, provides a one-stop solution for data collection and analysis.

This study evaluated the performance of InfinityLab Pro iQ Plus in PFAS analysis by repeatedly injecting standard solutions.
