Street light cable fault tester
Model: XA-DTR-3051
XA-DTR-3051 Street Lamp Cable Fault TesterOur company has carefully designed and developed a new generation of street lamp cable fault testing and positioning device based on the characteristics of "street lamp cable faults". It mainly solves the short circuit, open circuit, and dead grounding faults of buried street lamp cables. Its characteristics are high receiving sensitivity, strong anti-interference ability, stable signal, clear search path, and accurate positioning! In the actual testing and positioning process of underground cable faults in street lamps, the accurate positioning error of the fault point is less than 5cm! The instrument comes with a built-in power supply, is small in size, light in weight, easy to carry, and can be operated by a single person. It is particularly suitable for field operations (not affected by cable burial environments, such as hardened road surfaces, pipe penetration, and branching), which greatly facilitates users, improves work efficiency, and reduces labor intensity.
This instrument utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction and does not require voltage boosting equipment, thereby ensuring the personal safety of cables, electrical equipment, and testing personnel. Simultaneously conduct synchronous testing on cable routing, fault location, and burial depth. Unlike the previous method of using high voltage to force the fault point to discharge and locating the fault based on the sound intensity, the previously tedious and complex fault location work has become very easy and simple.
This product has been highly praised by many street lamp management and maintenance units for many years! Widely used in municipal engineering management offices, streetlight management offices, power bureaus, power supply companies, agricultural power companies, municipal landscaping management offices, property management companies and other units and enterprises in large, medium and small cities in various provinces of China, it has brought great convenience to the power cable maintenance and repair departments of each unit! Greatly improving the work efficiency of cable fault maintenance personnel, single person fault testing can quickly locate faults and excavate small areas, thereby greatly saving maintenance units a lot of costs.
In addition, the grounding and disconnection faults of single core cables that cannot be solved by the "flashing method" of this instrument are suitable, with accurate and fast positioning, and errors measured in centimeters.
Technical Indicators:
1. Detection distance ≤ 10km
2. Detection depth ≤ 3m
3. Path error<8cm
4. Positioning error<5cm
5. The distance between the sensing fault point is ≤ 30m
6. Positioning resistance range: 0-4M Ω

XA-DTR-3051 Street Lamp Cable Fault TesterApplication in the process of locating fault points in streetlight cables!
Characteristics and Solutions of Street Lamp Cable Faults
In recent years, major cities in China have been implementing urban lighting projects, making our city's night sky colorful. However, municipal construction and other road construction often cause damage to buried cables, and the hardening and greening of the road surface make it inconvenient for us to excavate extensively to find fault points. Therefore, the streetlight department urgently needs a simple, practical, portable, and fast fault testing instrument that can determine the location of fault points. Some streetlight departments have purchased cable fault testers produced by domestic and foreign companies, but their practicality is too poor and complex in actual use, and workers do not know how to use them or want to use them, resulting in their long-term idleness. This is due to the inherent defects of the instrument, which can be summarized as follows:
1. The cable gauge consists of two parts: distance measurement and fixed-point testing, suitable for testing the fault point of an unloaded cable. But the streetlight cables have joints, lamps, starters, and often bifurcations every few tens of meters. The interference of these objective factors makes it impossible to complete distance measurement (fault point distance) based on waveform analysis (unless the cable bifurcates and fuses are completely disconnected, which is obviously impractical).
2. Waveform analysis is difficult. Due to on-site interference, the actual fault waveform reflected by the instrument often differs greatly from the standard waveform in the laboratory and instructions, making it difficult for workers without certain experience to accurately distinguish.
After completing the distance measurement of the fault point, when accurately locating the fault point, high voltage impact should be applied to the faulty cable to force it to discharge. People should wear headphones above the cable and determine the fault point by distinguishing the size of the discharge sound on the ground. However, due to the loud environmental noise, people's ears often cannot distinguish between the discharge sound and the noise.
4. When fixing the point, the safety of the entire circuit must be disconnected, otherwise the voltage of tens of thousands of volts will damage the lamps and other loads.
5. The insulation requirements for cables used in street lamps are relatively low. In other words, as long as the lamp can emit light normally, no one usually considers the insulation of the cable. This is the reason why the cables used in street lamps burn out more severely when they fail. Adding tens of thousands of volts of voltage to the cable at a fixed point will cause breakdown at the secondary fault point of the cable (which does not affect power supply), causing further damage to the cable and greatly increasing the failure rate, reducing the service life of the cable.
6. This set of instruments requires more than ten types of auxiliary equipment and accessories, including voltage regulators, capacitors, high-voltage PTs, ball gaps, and fixed-point instruments, to complete ranging, cable routing, and fault location. The total weight is approximately 50-60 kilograms, and it requires multiple people to operate, making it too complex to use. At the same time, it is necessary to apply tens of thousands of volts of high voltage to the cable, which poses a certain danger.
7. When in use, a 220V AC power supply is required, which is often inconvenient to achieve on site.
8. The instrument also has theoretical shortcomings, such as: due to the testing blind spot of the instrument itself, when the distance from the fault point to the testing end is less than 30 meters, it is impossible to measure the distance between the fault point (and there is usually only 50 meters between two lamp posts).
In summary, this instrument is only suitable for high and low voltage power cables of power supply enterprises, and is not suitable for use as cables for street lamps. Due to the following characteristics of streetlight cables during use:
1. The path is clear and generally does not require searching for it.
2. The cable has a joint at the lamp post, which makes it easy to identify the fault point between the two lamp posts. In fact, what street lamp maintainers really need is an instrument that can accurately locate faulty cables within a range of tens of meters. There is no need to measure the distance of the fault point at all.
3. The insulation requirements for streetlight cables are relatively low. After a fault occurs, the fault characteristics are very obvious, and the approximate range of the fault point can be determined based on experience.
In summary, when actually searching for faults in streetlight cables, what is needed is an instrument that is easy to operate, portable, does not require a 220V power supply, inexpensive, can accurately locate the fault point on several tens of meters of faulty cables, practical, and tool type. In response to this demand, our company has independently developed the "DTR-3051 streetlight cable fault tester", which has been widely recognized by streetlight management departments in the past two years.
