The FMS-1400 water vapor/vacuum tester is a non-destructive gas analyzer used to simultaneously detect water partial pressure and total headspace pressure in closed injection containers. This compact analyzer utilizes patented laser absorption technology, which was developed with funding support from the US Food and Drug Administration. The light generated by near-infrared laser is adjusted to match the internal absorption frequency of water molecules and passes through the container in the headspace area above the product. The amount of absorbed laser is proportional to the concentration of water vapor in the headspace, while the width of the absorbed signal is related to the headspace pressure. This measurement method can be used to quickly and comprehensively analyze products. The system can be installed on a handcart, rolled between different canning lines for online process monitoring and troubleshooting activities, or permanently placed in a laboratory for product development, factory testing, and quality control investigations.
