Product Overview

The tissue homogenizer produces homogenate through shear and compression. When the rotating pestle descends into the test tube, the tissue sample will gradually be ground (sheared) into smaller fragments at the circular end of the pestle.

As the pestle is forced down into the test tube, the sample undergoes displacement and compression between the straight outer wall of the pestle and the inner wall of the test tube, compressing the tissue cells until they rupture.

When the test tube is pulled away from the pestle, a slight vacuum is generated, pulling the sample back into the compression zone, resulting in an additional homogenization stroke. The degree of homogenization is controlled by the gap between the cylindrical part of the pestle and the tube, the rotational speed of the pestle, and the number of compression strokes.
