Viking Pump is a department of IDEX that is at the forefront of the S industry in designing and manufacturing rotary positive displacement pumps for some of the most demanding applications. Dismantling of Viking Pump Packing Seal Pump:
Before disassembly, it is necessary to mark the pump cover and pump casing to ensure that they can be reinstalled correctly
Installation The offset idler shaft on the pump cover must be located in the center of the port passage to ensure smooth flow of liquid inside the pump.
Remove the pump cover. Avoid letting the idler wheel detach from the idler shaft. When disassembling, the top can be raised to prevent detachment. Be careful to avoid damaging the cover gasket. If the pump is equipped with a pressure relief valve, it does not need to be removed from the top cover or dismantled at that point. Refer to the pressure relief valve instructions on page 10. If the pump cover is equipped with a jacket, it will separate from the pump cover during disassembly. The gasket between the pump cover and the jacket plate must be removed. A new gasket is required when assembling the pump.
2. Remove the idler and shaft sleeve components.
3. Insert a section of hardwood or brass through the port passage between the rotor teeth to prevent the shaft from rotating. Use an adjustable wrench to bend the handle foot of the lock washer and remove the lock nut and lock washer from the shaft.
4. Loosen the positioning screws on the surface of the bearing seat and remove the bearing seat components from the bracket. Refer to Figure 8.
5. Remove one or two halves of the inner gasket ring from the shaft. There is no semi-circular ring on the pumps of "H" and "HL" sizes.
6. Remove the packing cover screws from the packing box and slide out the packing cover, then remove the packing.
Note: When disassembling the packing pump, refer to the section on replacing containerized seals starting from page 3.
7. Carefully remove the rotor and shaft to avoid damaging the bracket shaft sleeve.
8. Unscrew the two radial positioning screws on the flange of the bearing seat, and then use an adjustable wrench to remove the outer end cover and the outer spacer ring of the bearing.
9. Remove the double row ball bearings, partition plates, and internal spacer rings from the bearing seat.
10. Clean all components and check for wear and damage. Check the lip seals, bearings, shaft sleeves, and idler shafts, and replace them if necessary. Check all other parts for gaps, burrs, and excessive wear, and replace them if necessary. Clean the bearings with a cleaning solvent. Use compressed air to blow bearings. Avoid letting the bearings idle; Slowly rotate the bearing by hand. The empty transfer of the bearing will damage the bearing ring and ball bearings. Ensure that the bearings are clean, apply a thin layer of oil to their surface, and check for roughness. Turning the outer race by hand can detect the roughness of the bearing.
