The stationary phase is a typical cation exchange column made of silica gel as the matrix and aromatic sulfonic acid groups as the bonding phase. Usually used for the separation of alkaline and water-soluble compounds. Special applications include organic bases such as basic amino acids, aniline, medicinal salts, inorganic cations, and nucleotides.

Vertex ion exchange chromatography column

The Vertex ion exchange column series has two modes: Strong Cation Exchange Column (SCX) and Strong Anion Exchange Column (SAX). Its fixed phase is based on ultra pure fully porous spherical silica gel as the matrix, with a unique fixed phase bonding technology that densely and uniformly bonds ion exchange functional groups to the surface of the silica gel matrix, obtaining a high-capacity ion exchange layer.

Organic modifiers such as acetonitrile and methanol can be used on SAX and SCX columns (within the solubility limits of organic solvents/buffers)

By changing pH, ionic strength, and organic modifier content, the retention time of the sample can be controlled

Anion exchange column (SAX)

The Vertex SAX chromatography column uses a polar bonded packing composed of ammonium functionalized silane chemically bonded to an ultra pure silica gel matrix, suitable for efficient anion exchange HPLC method. Special applications include the separation of several types of organic acids, such as aromatic and aliphatic carboxylic acids and sulfonic acids. Specific application areas include pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, inorganic anions, and biological samples such as nucleotides and glucosinolates.
