Proportional valve is a new type of hydraulic control device. On ordinary pressure valves, flow valves, and directional valves, proportional electromagnets are used instead of the original control parts to continuously and proportionally control the pressure, flow rate, or direction of oil flow remotely based on the input electrical signal. Proportional valves generally have pressure compensation performance, and the output pressure and flow rate can be unaffected by load changes

VICKERS solenoid valve and safety valve are integrated to form a pilot operated pressure valve, which is both an unloading valve and a safety valve, sometimes also an overflow valve. During unloading, its control oil passage runs through each directional valve, similar to the unloading oil passage mentioned above. When each directional valve is in the neutral position, the control oil passage of the unloading valve (see Figure 1b) As shown in Figure 2, it runs through various directional valves and is connected to the oil tank. During unloading, most of the oil is unloaded with short channels and low pressure loss. When any directional valve works, the control oil channel is cut off, and the oil source enters the actuator from the directional valve. The working pressure is controlled by the pilot valve. At this time, the system pressure is adjusted by the pilot valve. This unloading method, even if the number of directional valve channels increases, only the control oil channel increases, and the unloading pressure does not increase significantly, always maintaining a low unloading pressure. This unloading method is mostly used for manual directional valves, and the unloading is reliable

The main valve of VICKERS solenoid valve (also known as safety valve) can be divided into three types according to the matching form: three-stage concentric, two-stage concentric, and slide valve. Among them, the slide valve structure has low working pressure and low control pressure accuracy; Although the three-level concentric structure is mature and widely used, compared with the two-level concentric structure, it is not as sensitive in action, has the same specifications, and has the same stroke. The oil flow capacity of the two-level concentric structure is much greater than that of the three-level concentric structure; The two-stage concentric control pressure is stable and has good processability. The pilot oil from the VICKERS solenoid valve controls the movement of the main reversing valve spool, allowing the incoming oil from the working pump to enter the boom cylinder and achieve boom lift. The higher the output pressure of the proportional pilot pressure reducing valve, the greater the displacement of the control main directional valve core, the greater the flow rate through the main directional valve, and the faster the boom rises. When the control handle is pulled to the limit position, the limit electromagnetic iron in the handle is energized, and the handle is attracted to the limit position. The boom rises at the maximum speed. When it reaches the position limited by the upper limit switch of the boom, the limit electromagnet of the operating handle is powered off, and the handle automatically returns to the middle position. The boom can then remain in the limited position. During the process of raising the boom, if the boom needs to stay in a certain position, the operating handle needs to be returned to the neutral position.

VICKERS solenoid valves are mainly used as actuating components in electro-hydraulic servo systems (see hydraulic servo systems). In servo systems, hydraulic actuators have the characteristics of good speed, high output power per unit weight, smooth transmission, and strong anti-interference ability compared to electrical and pneumatic actuators. On the other hand, electrical components are often used in servo systems to transmit signals and correct characteristics. Therefore, modern high-performance servo systems also use electro-hydraulic methods, and servo valves are essential components of such systems.
