Used for measuring environmental level x and gamma dose rates, while also being able to detect hidden radiation sources and confirm artificial radiation sources

It is difficult to distinguish the fluctuations between artificial gamma sources and natural background using known quantitative measurement methods

Although inorganic scintillators and high-resolution germanium semiconductors can be used to measure spectra for highly shielded artificial sources, the required time is relatively long

Moreover, measuring the peak of the light spot within 100mS to a few seconds has poor statistical accuracy. In addition, the shielding effect of the tested substance on the natural gamma background causes a 50% decrease in the natural background, making it difficult to detect weak sources

Even if using the method of measuring both the effect and the background at another location, and then subtracting, it still requires a long time to measure weak sources

The measuring device using NBR technology is connected to the scintillator with at least two comparators, one comparator corresponding to the high threshold and one comparator corresponding to the low threshold, to measure the integral count rate above the threshold

If the measured ratio of the two threshold counting rates is consistent with the ratio of natural gamma radiation or within the error range, * no gamma source signal is given. If the difference is greater than 20%, * artificial gamma source signal is given

Radiation detectors using natural background subtraction (NBR) technology can automatically distinguish between natural background radiation, NORM radiation, and artificial radiation.

Detect even the slightest amount of radiation within seconds and immediately determine whether it is natural or artificial. The Thermo Scientific FH 40 G NBR measuring instrument uses advanced natural background subtraction (NBR) technology to distinguish between natural radioactive material (Norm) and artificial radiation sources. This highly efficient detector can quickly locate contaminated or hidden radiation sources and accurately determine dose rates, which can be used by emergency responders and environmental remediation personnel dealing with radiation crises.

The FH 40 G NBR measuring instrument combines the Thermo Scientific FH 40 G multifunctional measuring instrument with the Thermo Scientific FHZ 672 E series detector, which is equipped with a highly sensitive scintillation detector and ultra fast response device. The FHZ 672E probe adopts NBR technology, which can distinguish between natural radioactive materials (Norms) and artificial radioactive sources, and is clearly and easily represented by red or green LED lights. Ordering this combination can be used to measure dose rates in R/h units (FHZ 672 E version) or to achieve the energy characteristics required for environmental dose equivalent H * (10) in Sv/h units (FHZ 672 E-10 version). This detector has high efficiency and allows for precise measurement of dose rates at two locations within seconds.
