1、 Working principle of iron and manganese removal:

The entire treatment process of the iron and manganese removal equipment is a process of contact oxidation precipitation adsorption precipitation, including the adsorption and catalytic oxidation process of the iron active filter membrane. Taking iron as an example, the iron dissolved in water first precipitates through ion exchange and is adsorbed. The reaction equation is:
Fe(0H)3•2H2O+Fe2+=Fe(0H)2(OFe)•2H2O++H+
Then, the adsorbed divalent iron ions are rapidly oxidized and hydrolyzed by dissolved oxygen in water under the catalytic action of the active filter membrane, thereby regenerating the catalyst:
Fe(0H)2(OFe)•2H20+l/402+5/2H20=2Fe(OH)3•2H20+H+
The reaction products act as catalysts to participate in new reactions, repeating the cycle, giving the filter layer a continuous ability to remove iron. Therefore, this iron removal process is an automatic catalytic process or self catalytic process.

2、 Process Introduction:
When the iron concentration in groundwater is between 5-10mg/l and the manganese concentration is between 1-2mg/l, or when groundwater contains only iron but no manganese and the iron concentration is around 10mg/l, aeration single-stage iron and manganese removal filtration can be used.

technological process:Groundwater → deep well pump → aeration device → water tank → filtration pump → iron and manganese removal device → reservoir → water using unit.
If the groundwater contains high levels of iron and manganese, i.e. iron greater than 10mg/l and manganese greater than 2mg/l, aeration two-stage iron and manganese removal filtration should be used.

3、 Installation points and precautions:
1. The iron (manganese) filter should be placed on a horizontal concrete foundation, which should be stable to prevent uneven settlement.
2. The backwash cycle is generally determined based on the pressure of the treated water quality. When the difference between the inlet and outlet pressure gauges reaches the allowable head loss value of the equipment, backwashing should be carried out. When the iron (manganese) content in the filtered water exceeds the specified value, backwashing should be carried out immediately.
3. The filter material of the iron (manganese) remover should be sandblasted and sorted annually, and the layering of the filter material should be observed. If thinning of the filter layer is found, it should be replenished in a timely manner.
4. When running for one cycle, the filter material should be backwashed or cleaned when there is a change in water quality. The method should be carried out according to the operating procedures. After flushing is completed and the water quality is tested to be qualified, it can be put back into normal operation.
After 7-8 days of operation of the newly installed equipment, the water quality can reach the standard of qualified water quality.
