The suction distance is too large. Some water sources are deeper, while others have flatter outer surfaces, neglecting the allowable suction range of the water pump, resulting in less or no water absorption. It should be noted that the vacuum degree that can be established at the suction port of the water pump is limited. When there is an absolute vacuum, the suction stroke is about 10 meters of water column height, and the water pump cannot establish an absolute vacuum. Excessive vacuum can cause water inside the pump to vaporize, which is detrimental to the operation of the water pump. Each centrifugal pump has its maximum allowable suction stroke, generally between 3 and 8.5 meters. When installing the water pump, it is important not to only consider convenience and simplicity.

It is a positive displacement rotary pump, and when the outlet end is blocked, the pressure will gradually increase to exceed the predetermined pressure value. At this point, the motor load increases sharply. The load on transmission machinery related components may also exceed the design value, and in severe cases, motor burnout and transmission component fracture may occur. In order to avoid damage to the screw pump, a bypass overflow valve is usually installed at the outlet of the screw pump to stabilize the outlet pressure and maintain the normal operation of the pump.

Ensure that debris does not enter the pump body

The solid debris mixed in wet sludge can cause damage to the rubber stator of the screw pump, so it is important to ensure that the debris does not enter the pump chamber. Many sewage treatment plants have installed crushers before the pump, and some have installed grid devices or filters to prevent debris from entering the screw pump. The grid should be cleaned up in a timely manner to avoid blockage.

Installation precautions

1. Choose any installation location. During trial operation, the pump body must be filled with hydraulic oil and kept full during operation. In order to reduce noise, all connecting pipes (inlet pipe, pressure pipe, and shell drain pipe) need to be isolated with flexible components and oil tanks.

2. The oil pump bracket should be firm, have good rigidity, and be able to fully absorb vibrations.

3. The concentricity of the pump and motor shafts should be controlled within 0.10mm, and flexible couplings should be used as much as possible to avoid any stress caused by bending or lateral forces.

4. The diameter of the suction pipe of the oil pump should not be less than the inlet diameter of the pump, and the flow rate of the oil suction filter should not be less than twice the flow rate of the oil pump.

5. When the pump is installed higher than the oil tank, the height of the suction port from the oil level should be less than 1 meter (less than 0.8 meters when using phosphate grease or hydraulic fluid containing water).

6. When installing the pump, if it is higher than the oil tank level, the suction port of the pump should be raised.

7. Note that the connecting flange, joint and the entire oil suction pipe at the oil inlet must be strictly sealed to prevent air leakage, otherwise noise and system vibration will be caused, and a large amount of foam will be produced in the oil tank, reducing the service life of the pump.

8. The fuel tank should be equipped with a partition to separate the bubbles and dirt brought by the return oil. The return oil pipe should extend below the oil level (not directly connected to the inlet of the pump) to prevent splashing of the return oil and causing bubbles.
