In many cases, the seamless steel pipe ultrasonic automatic detection system is integrated into the production process and should not limit the output of the production line. The design should be adapted to the respective inspection tasks. The main design goal is to achieve high coverage, high speed, high sensitivity to small defects, and high repeatability as much as possible.
2. Functional Features
Because air is a poor ultrasonic conductor, water is commonly used as a coupling medium in industrial production. This usually controls the design of each testing system.

3. System Design
Avoiding mechanical rotation can achieve the highest possible detection speed. This requires the use of a detector with a fixed large number of ultrasonic probes, which allows for the detection of longitudinal/transverse defects and wall thickness measurement. This design is more reliable for accurate evaluation of defect length than any rotational detection method.

The steel pipe ultrasonic online detection system often uses local water immersion coupling method. The sink is located below the pipeline, and the position of the ultrasonic probe is calculated and fixed. The pipeline moves in a spiral motion through the immersion tank.

The third method is particularly suitable for offline ultrasonic automatic detection, such as pipeline rotation probe translation or probe fixed pipeline spiral stepping. The selection of probe quantity is based on the pipeline size and design accuracy requirements, to meet the detection of longitudinal/transverse defects and wall thickness measurement.

For weld inspection, it usually consists of three parts: longitudinal inspection, transverse inspection, and heat affected zone inspection.
