Small gasoline engine water pump

The function of a small gasoline engine water pump is to suck gasoline out of the fuel tank and send it to the float chamber of the carburetor through pipelines and gasoline filters. It is precisely because of the gasoline pump that the gasoline tank can be placed at the rear of the car away from the engine and lower than the engine.

Gasoline water pumps can be divided into two types based on their driving methods: mechanical driven diaphragm type and electric driven type. Mechanical driven diaphragm gasoline pumps are generally driven by eccentric wheels on the camshaft, and their working conditions are as follows:

① During the rotation of the oil suction camshaft, when the eccentric wheel pushes the rocker arm and pulls down the pump diaphragm rod, the pump diaphragm descends, generating suction force. Gasoline is then sucked out of the fuel tank and enters the oil chamber of the gasoline pump through the oil pipe, gasoline filter, and other components.

② When the eccentric rotation of the pump oil reaches a certain angle and no longer pushes the rocker arm, the pump diaphragm spring stretches, pushing the pump diaphragm up and sending gasoline from the outlet valve to the float chamber of the carburetor.

The maximum fuel supply of a typical gasoline pump is 2.5 to 3.5 times greater than the maximum fuel consumption of a gasoline engine. When the pump oil volume exceeds the fuel consumption and the carburetor float chamber needle valve closes, the pressure in the oil pump outlet pipeline increases, which is reflected in the oil pump, causing the diaphragm stroke to shorten or stop working.

There is another type of electric gasoline pump that does not rely on the camshaft to drive, but relies on electromagnetic force to repeatedly suction the pump membrane. This electric pump can be installed in a freely selectable location and can prevent air resistance.

The gasoline pump of the electronic control gasoline injection system generally adopts a new type of impeller electric pump, which is installed in the gasoline tank and has a higher pumping pressure than the gasoline pump supplied by the carburetor.
