For each input of a pulse signal, the motor rotates a certain angle (some stepper motors can directly output linear displacement, called linear motors). Therefore, a stepper motor is an actuator that converts pulses into angular displacement (or linear displacement).
The rotor of a stepper motor is distributed in multiple poles, and the stator is embedded with control windings connected in a multi-phase star shape. A dedicated power supply is used to input electrical pulse signals, and for each pulse signal input, the rotor of the stepper motor advances one step. Due to the input being a pulse signal and the output angular displacement being intermittent, it is also known as a pulse motor.
