1. Background of irradiated food and drugs
Irradiation of food and drugs, also known as "ionizing radiation sterilization", refers to exposing food and drugs to free radiation. This process can eliminate microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, or tiny insects from food. Other applications include inhibiting germination, delaying fruit ripening, promoting juice production, and enhancing rehydration. This sterilization principle uses the energy of electromagnetic radiation to destroy the DNA structure in organisms, making it impossible for microorganisms to continue reproducing, and also causing plant embryos to stop growing and differentiating.
2. Radiation residue background
Vegetables, fruits, or traditional Chinese medicine often contain or carry minerals (inorganic substances, silicates, etc.), which store energy through their structural voids when exposed to ionizing radiation (irradiation). When stimulated by excitation light, these stored energies will be released in the form of photons. The photoluminescence identification method is a method of identifying whether fruits, vegetables, traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces, and solid Chinese medicine preparations have been subjected to ionizing radiation (irradiation) based on the number of photons released.

4. Analysis object
The BPCL-PSL15 irradiation food and drug detector is used to detect or screen whether food or Chinese medicinal materials and their components have been irradiated. The detectable range includes Chinese herbs, spices, seasonings, fruits and vegetables (including dehydrated vegetables), as well as products such as crustaceans and meat with shells or bone fragments.
5. Analysis principle
The BPCL-PSL15 irradiation food and drug detector uses infrared pulse excitation light source to stimulate luminescence, and determines whether the sample has been irradiated by stimulating the release of energy stored in the mineral carried in the sample during the irradiation process.
6. Analysis and Measurement
Photon acquisition frequency: 1.0 times/second (standard requirement), other frequencies can be customized.

7. Main features of the instrument:

8.2 Light source

(5) The drawer door of the sample room is equipped with an automatic sensor. If the drawer door is not in the predetermined position, the light window shutter cannot be opened to prevent damage to the photomultiplier tube due to misoperation.
(6) The light window shutter of the detector is an automatic shutter. When the detection starts, the light window shutter is automatically opened. When the detection ends, the light window shutter is automatically closed, which can ensure that the detector opens the sample chamber door without closing it and prevent high-power LED lights from damaging the photomultiplier tube.
