Product Details
Portable infrared gas analyzer is an instrument that uses the principle of infrared absorption spectroscopy to detect and analyze gas components. Due to its portability, high sensitivity, and real-time performance, it is widely used in environmental monitoring, industrial safety, scientific research, medical and other fields. The following is a detailed introduction to its basic content:
1、 Working principle
The portable infrared gas analyzer is based on Non Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) technology.
Basic principle: Different gas molecules selectively absorb infrared light of specific wavelengths. The instrument emits infrared light through the gas to be measured. After the gas absorbs light of a specific wavelength, the detector measures the attenuation of the transmitted light intensity to calculate the gas concentration.
Characteristic absorption peaks: For example, CO ₂ has a strong absorption peak at 4.26 μ m, and CH ₄ has an absorption peak near 3.3 μ m.
Dual light path design: usually equipped with a measurement light path and a reference light path, used to eliminate light source fluctuations and environmental interference, and improve measurement accuracy.
2、 Main components
Infrared light source: emits broad-spectrum infrared light, usually in the form of miniature filaments or LEDs.
Gas sampling chamber: a chamber through which the gas to be measured flows, with gold plating on the inner walls to enhance reflection, increase optical path length, and sensitivity.
Optical filter: Select light of a specific wavelength to pass through, corresponding to the absorption peak of the target gas.
Infrared detector: detects the intensity of transmitted infrared light, commonly using thermopiles or photoconductive detectors.
Signal processing unit: Convert detector signals into concentration values and perform temperature, pressure compensation, and other corrections.
Display screen and operation interface: Display real-time concentration, alarm information, etc., supporting user operation.
Battery and power management: Built in rechargeable battery, supports long-term outdoor or on-site work.
Data storage and communication interface: Supports USB, Bluetooth, or Wi Fi for easy data export and remote monitoring.
3、 Main features
Portability: Small size, light weight, easy to carry to the site for use.
Fast response: Usually measurement results can be obtained within a few seconds.
High selectivity: The filter can effectively avoid interference from other gases.
Non destructive testing: does not consume the tested gas and can be continuously monitored.
Multi gas detection: Some instruments can be equipped with multiple sensors to simultaneously detect multiple gases (such as CO, CO ₂, CH ₄, N ₂ O, etc.).
4、 Application Fields
Environmental monitoring:
Monitoring of greenhouse gases (CO ₂, CH ₄) in the atmosphere
Pollution source emission testing
Industrial safety:
Combustible gas or toxic gas leakage detection in petrochemical, coal mining and other places
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC):
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessment, monitoring CO ₂ concentration
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry:
Greenhouse gas emission monitoring and fermentation process control
Medical and Respiratory Analysis:
Detection of CO ₂ concentration in exhaled breath (such as anesthesia monitoring)
Research experiment:
Laboratory gas composition analysis and reaction process monitoring
5、 Precautions for use
Calibration: Regularly use standard gases for zero and range calibration to ensure accuracy.
Environmental impact: Changes in humidity, temperature, and pressure may affect measurements, and compensation function is required.
Cross interference: Some gas absorption spectra overlap and need to be eliminated through algorithms or filters.
Sampling method: It can be diffusion or pump suction, with pump suction being more suitable for low concentration or long-distance sampling.
Maintenance: Keep the air path clean to prevent dust or liquids from entering the sensor.
In short, portable infrared gas analyzers have become an indispensable tool for modern gas detection due to their high precision, fast response, and on-site applicability. When selecting, comprehensive consideration should be given to target gas, range, accuracy, environmental conditions, and other factors.
