Measurement principle: Principle: To determine the alkalinity of a water sample, a glass electrode is used as the indicator electrode, a calomel electrode is used as the reference electrode, and an acid standard solution is used for titration. The endpoint is indicated by a pH meter or potentiometric titrator. pH 8.3 represents the endpoint at which the hydroxide in the water sample is neutralized and the carbonate is converted to bicarbonate, which is equivalent to the pH value when the phenolphthalein indicator has just faded. pH 4.4~4.5 represents the endpoint at which the bicarbonate (including the original bicarbonate and the bicarbonate converted from carbonate) in the water is neutralized, which is equivalent to the pH value at which methyl orange has just turned orange red. Industrial wastewater or water containing complex components can be titrated at pH 3.7 to indicate the endpoint of total acidity
Potentiometric titration can be used to plot the titration curve of pH value versus the amount of acid standard titrant used during dripping, and then calculate the content of the corresponding component or directly titrate to the specified endpoint.
Titrate with hydrochloric acid standard solution, and record the consumption of hydrochloric acid standard solution when the endpoint indicated by phenolphthalein is reached at pH 8.3.
Continue titrating with hydrochloric acid standard solution until the pH reaches 4.4-4.5, reaching the second endpoint indicated by methyl orange. Record the amount of hydrochloric acid standard solution used.
