Instrument Introduction
The IROX Diesel mid infrared diesel analyzer is a device used for diesel analysis and detectionMid infrared Fourier transform spectrometerIt has a database with a large number of benchmark sample calibrations, built-in onboard software, and a spectrophotometer. Like the IROX 2000, it is easy to operate and use. This instrument also uses advanced mathematical calculation models, including cluster analysis (CA) and multiple linear correlation analysis (MLR),Mid infrared Fourier transform spectrometerIt can measure some important physical and chemical indicators of diesel fuel, such as cetane number, cetane index, and distillation characteristics. The advantages of speed, simplicity, and customer on-site calibration make the entire test easy and straightforward, taking no more than 4 minutes.
The resolution of the spectrum is as high as 4 cm-1, ensuring the highest accuracy of the data, and the results can be obtained in 3 minutes.
The latest update of IROX DIESEL has expanded a new application: the determination of FAME (biodiesel) content in diesel fuel
Product Application
New Application: Determination of FAME (Biodiesel) Content in Diesel Fuel
IROX Dieselzui has recently been updated to detect the content of long-chain fatty acid monoalkyl esters (or FAME) in common diesel blends.
FAME biodiesel is extracted from vegetable oils such as rapeseed and soybeans, dissolved in methanol, and catalyzed by catalysts to produce fatty acid alkyl ester compounds.
There is a strong infrared absorption peak at 1745 cm-1 for low concentration FAME ≤ 9% m in ordinary diesel, while a weak absorption peak at 1195 cm-1 is also observed for 9 to 40% m in the presence of higher concentration FAME
In this way, we can accurately measure the concentration of FAME by performing secondary derivative calculations on these characteristic absorption peak spectra.
The revised mathematical methods and software processing have greatly improved and enhanced the accuracy of measuring cetane improvers, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PNA), cetane number, and cetane index. By calculating the second derivative of the additional spectral peaks of cetane improvers and PNA, the accuracy of the test data can be enhanced, and the stability and reproducibility of the results are better than those of the method.
IROX DIESEL has been calibrated for FAME determination in diesel before leaving the factory: it depends on the concentration range of the two characteristic absorption peaks used in the infrared spectrum
0.2->7.0% at low concentration range: absorption peak at 1745 cm-1
7.0->30% in high concentration range: absorption peak at 1195 cm-1
The calibration process for unknown standard samples is also very simple, and the calibration constant can be automatically calculated.
