When operating, first place the balance in a stationary state, remove the hanging blue 5, and place the standard sample into the hanging blue 5 for soaking and cleaning. After soaking for 24 hours with the water surface at least 5cm higher than the sample, place the hanging blue 5 containing the sample in the water glass container 7 on the platform 4, and use the method of lifting and lowering the hanging blue 5 up and down to remove bubbles. When all the suspended blue 5 is immersed in water, measure the water temperature, and then weigh the suspended blue 5 and the sample in water with a balance g2. Then remove the suspended blue 5 and place the sample in an oven to dry according to conventional requirements.

After drying, cool down at room temperature and weigh g0. Place hanging blue 5 into a glass container 7 with water of the same temperature and weigh its weight g1. During the above weighing, the water level in container 7 is controlled by overflow valve 6. By substituting the read weighing results into the specific gravity measurement formula, the measured value can be obtained. Generally, the apparent density value is determined by taking the arithmetic mean of two test results.
