Manufacturer of experimental instrumentssummary:
The SD-II electric sand equivalent testing machine complies with the JTJ058-2000 (T0334-1994) fine aggregate sand equivalent testing regulations of the Ministry of Transport, and is suitable for asphalt mixtures and cement concrete. It uses natural sand, artificial sand, and stone chips, with the largest particle size of the aggregate not exceeding 4.75mm. The sand equivalent tester measures the content of cohesive soil or impurities in the fine aggregate to evaluate its cleanliness.

Experimental steps:
1. Use a flushing tube to suck the washing solution into the test cylinder until it reaches the 100mm mark below (approximately 80ml of flushing solution is required).
2. Carefully pour a wet sample with a dry weight of 120 ± 1g into an upright test tube using a funnel.
3. Repeatedly tap the lower part of the test tube with your palm to remove bubbles and wet the sample as soon as possible, then let it sit for 10 minutes.
4. Insert a plug into the test tube, place it horizontally, and oscillate (using only wrist oscillation without shaking the arm) to maintain an amplitude of 230 ± 25mm. Shake 90 times, then place the tube vertically on the sand equivalent tester or electric sand equivalent tester test bench, and unscrew the plug.
5. Insert the flushing tube into the test cylinder and flush the aggregate attached to the cylinder wall with flushing solution. Then gradually insert the flushing tube into the bottom of the test cylinder, slowly rotate the flushing tube, and raise the flushing tube at a constant speed to allow the soil particles and impurities attached to the surface of the aggregate to float up until the solution reaches the 380ml mark.
6. When the liquid level of the flushing tube is at the 380ml mark, cut off the flushing tube, and then start the stopwatch. Without disturbance, let it stand for 20 minutes ± 15 seconds.
7. Measure the height h1 from the bottom of the test tube to the settling part with a ruler, and if possible, also measure the height from the bottom of the test tube to the settling part, accurate to 1mm.
8. Slowly insert the counterweight piston into the test cylinder. Until encountering sediment, tighten the sleeve screw, align the zero point of the ruler with the bottom surface of the piston, and read the sediment height h2 from the sleeve accurately to 1mm. And record the humidity inside the test tube, accurate to 1 ℃.
9. Perform parallel tests on two samples according to the above steps.
