The so-called oilfield water injection refers to the use of water injection equipment to inject water of the required quality from the injection well into the oil reservoir, in order to maintain the pressure of the oil reservoir. This process is called oilfield water injection. Oilfield water injection is one of the important means to supplement energy to the formation and improve oilfield recovery during the development process. The level of water injection well management technology determines the effectiveness of oilfield development and also determines the length of oilfield development life. So there are strict standard requirements for reinjection water.
The water quality standards for oilfield reinjection water should vary depending on the properties of the oil reservoir. However, in general, the water quality for injection should meet the following requirements: ① The injected water should contain as few suspended impurities as possible, and their content and particle size should not block the permeable end face of the injection well and the oil reservoir; ② Injecting water should not cause scaling or sedimentation due to changes in temperature, pressure, etc., nor should scaling or sedimentation occur when mixing formation water or surface water; ③ Injecting water quality does not cause corrosion to the water injection equipment; ④ The reproduction of bacteria injected into the water cannot produce new suspended impurities, nor can it affect the normal operation of the water injection system; ⑤ Injecting water quality should prevent the expansion of oil layer clay.

The particle size of suspended solids is an important indicator of the quality of injected water and a significant factor in causing formation damage. Studies have shown that the principle and basis for optimizing the median particle size of suspended solids based on the radius of the mainstream throat are important. When the ratio of the particle size of suspended solids in water to the pore throat diameter of the oil reservoir is less than or equal to 1/6 to 1/5, it can smoothly pass through the pore medium; The mass concentration of suspended solids is determined by the geological properties. In highly permeable or fractured formations, its mass concentration can reach 10mg/L, but its particle size should generally be less than 1/10 of the main channel radius of the rock pore throat in order to pass through the rock pore throat smoothly. (Pore throat refers to narrow channels connecting pores in rock or soil.). So accurate detection of suspended particle size is very important.
