Overview

Shirasu Porous Glass, developed by SPG Corporation in 1981, is a new type of inorganic membrane from Japan. The SPG membrane has a consistent and uniform small pore size, and the pore size can be easily changed. In the production process of SPG membrane, volcanic ash, glass, and lime are first boronated at 1350 ℃ to form, and then heated to around 700 ℃ to produce a glassy material with small phase separation. Finally, it is treated in acid to remove soluble substances, and after manual processing, it contains Al2O3; Porous glass with SiO2.

By changing the preparation conditions, SPG membrane tubes and membranes with different pore sizes can be obtained.


By stirring and mixing two immiscible liquids with an appropriate amount of surface active ingredients, an emulsion can be produced. However, the droplets of the emulsion are highly dispersed and can differ in diameter by several times or even tens of times.

Principle: The dispersed phase passes through the membrane hole of microporous membrane under the action of nitrogen pressure, and forms droplets on the membrane surface. Under the washing action of continuous phase flowing along the membrane surface, the droplets will peel off from the membrane surface after their diameter reaches a certain value, thus forming lotion. The size and distribution of lotion particles can be well controlled by using SPG membrane with uniform pore size. Due to the relatively uniform diameter of the micropores in the membrane, the droplets produced into the emulsion are also relatively uniform. As long as the composition of the water phase is adjusted and the stability of the droplets is maintained, highly monodisperse emulsion droplets can be obtained, and corresponding polymer particles can be obtained after polymerization.

Application: It is mainly used to prepare lotion, beads, microspheres, microcapsules, etc. with uniform size, and can prepare W/O, O/W, W/O/W, O/W/O type lotion. Realize the size uniformity of lotion; Controllable surface functionality of microspheres; Stability of porous microsphere structure; Preparation of homogeneous lotion; Control of pore channels in porous microspheres or sustained-release capsules, etc.
