When using manual sample pretreatment, in order to provide necessary pressure to the sample pretreatment column, a 5mL sized syringe should be used.
In order to remove trace ionic pollutants from the sample pretreatment column and pretreat the column packing, the sample pretreatment column should be rinsed with deionized water or other appropriate solvents according to the appropriate volume listed in Table 2 before use.
In order to optimize the treatment effect of the column bed, the sample solution should be passed through the sample pretreatment column at the recommended flow rate in Table 2. For the sample pretreatment process based on adsorption principle, the column bed of the pretreatment column can only be effectively utilized when the flow rate of the sample solution is less than 4.0 mL/min; For the sample pretreatment process based on ion exchange principle, the column bed of the pretreatment column can only be effectively utilized when the flow rate of the sample solution is less than 2.0 mL/min. When the amount of sample solution processed is less than the large capacity, the sampling speed can be appropriately increased.
Whether dealing with sample solutions or standard solutions, the initial effluent should be discarded and not used. For example, after adding the sample solution into a 5mL syringe, the early 3mL of effluent should be discarded, and the remaining 2mL of effluent should be collected for injection for ion chromatography determination.
If the substance to be removed is colored material or other visible material to the human eye (such as AgCl precipitation), the sample pretreatment column can be used until there is a color band extending to 3/4 of the distance from the outlet of the sample pretreatment column. In certain special application cases, if a large loading capacity of the pre-treatment column is desired, the sample solution can be continuously passed through the pre-treatment column and tested using appropriate detection methods until column penetration is observed.
The pretreatment column of ion chromatography samples should be used vertically to achieve ideal results for sample pretreatment.
