  Working Principle:

In a fluid pipeline, inserting a cylindrical barrier vertically will generate vortices alternately on both sides at its rear (relative to the fluid flow direction). As the fluid flows downstream, a vortex column is formed, which we call the Karman vortex street. We define cylindrical barriers that generate vortices as vortex generators. Experimental results have shown that under certain conditions, the separation frequency of vortices is linearly related to the flow velocity of the fluid. Therefore, as long as the frequency of vortex separation is detected, the flow velocity or flow rate of the pipeline can be calculated.
