The composition of the material used to manufacture the low-voltage cable branch box body is a resin based composite material. The main components of the box are DMC SMC is made by pressing two materials. This composite material consists of two parts: the matrix - polyester resin; SMC, also known as fiber-reinforced polyester material, is a reinforcing material. Fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester is a composite material based on unsaturated polyester resin. This material has an insoluble and non melting three-dimensional network structure, and has become a high-performance engineering material through functional filler modification and special fiber reinforcement.

In developed countries such as Europe and America, this material has been widely used in the electrical field for decades.

II Characteristics and advantages of materials for electric meter box body

  1Good electrical performance
Fiber reinforced polyester materials used for manufacturing electrical products have the following electrical properties:
Insulation resistance (immersed in water for 24 hours): 1.0x10 M Ω
Arc resistance: 180s
Anti leakage trace index: ≥ 600v
The insulation protection and anti creepage indicators comply with DIN/VDE related standards. This material not only has excellent electrical insulation properties, but also maintains good dielectric properties at high frequencies, is not affected by electromagnetic effects, and does not reflect electromagnetic waves. These properties are far beyond the capabilities of metallic materials.
  2Chemical corrosion resistance
Fiber reinforced polyester materials have excellent corrosion resistance to acid, dilute alkali, salt, organic solvents, seawater, etc., while metal materials are not acid resistant or resistant to seawater corrosion.
  3Lightweight and high-strength
Specific strength and specific modulus are one of the indicators for measuring the bearing capacity of materials. The specific modulus of fiber-reinforced polyester materials is comparable to that of steel, but their specific strength can reach four times that of steel.
  4Good anti fatigue performance

The tensile strength of fiber-reinforced polyester materials is slightly better than that of steel. The fatigue limit of steel and most metal materials is 40% -50% of their tensile strength, while the fatigue limit of fiber-reinforced composite materials is generally higher than this value, with the highest reaching 70% -80%.
