Analysis and Maintenance Methods of Common Malfunctions in VFD-B Delta Inverter

1、 Overcurrent fault (OCC)

1. ‌Case Analysis

  • Acceleration process overcurrentOCC fault reported during startup, due to the acceleration time parameter (such as 2202) being set to 2 seconds too short, the current suddenly changed and disappeared after 10 seconds, and the operation was stable1214.

  • Motor winding short circuitSudden overcurrent during operation, measurement of motor three-phase resistance imbalance, confirmation of winding turn to turn short circuit causing abnormal current514.

  • IGBT breakdownThe explosion machine malfunction was accompanied by a burnt smell. Upon disassembly and inspection, it was found that the CE pole resistance of the IGBT module was 0 Ω. After replacing the module and repairing the drive circuit, it was restored57.

2. ‌Repair Method

  • Check if the mechanical load is stuck (such as belts, bearings), and manually rotate the disc to confirm smoothness14

  • Adjust the acceleration/deceleration time to a reasonable range (recommended ≥ 5 seconds)1214

  • Replace the damaged IGBT module and perform synchronous maintenance on the drive circuit optocoupler (such as A3120) and gate resistance57.


2、 Overvoltage/undervoltage fault (OV/LU)

1. ‌Case Analysis

  • Shutdown overvoltage (OV)Failure to configure braking resistor resulted in abnormal energy feedback. After installing a 200 Ω/5kW braking unit, the DC bus voltage stabilized912.

  • Input phase loss (LU)The oxidation of the power contactor contacts caused a phase loss. After cleaning the contacts and reinforcing the wiring, the undervoltage alarm was eliminated14.

  • Capacitor agingThe DC bus capacitor bulged and leaked, and the voltage returned to normal after replacing the capacitor of the same specification (discharging to below 30V)56.

2. ‌Repair Method

  • Detect the balance of three-phase power supply (deviation ≤ 2%), install input reactors to suppress grid fluctuations1214

  • Calibrate the voltage detection circuit, focusing on investigating the deviation of the voltage divider resistor resistance (such as DR40/DR41)812.


3、 No display and switch power failure

4、 Overheating fault (oH)

  • high ambient temperatureWorkshop temperature reaches 50 ℃, triggering overheating protection, installing ventilation equipment to cool down to below 40 ℃1112.

  • Clean the dust on the heat sink every month and test the fan start stop function (parameter 04-02 setting)912

  • Optimize the low-frequency torque compensation of the V/F curve (parameter 07-02) to reduce motor temperature rise1214.
