According to China's power regulations, when the capacitance current of 10kV and 35kV systems is greater than 30A and 10A respectively, arc suppression coils should be installed to compensate for the capacitance current. This requires measuring the capacitance current of the distribution network to determine whether to install arc suppression coils.
In addition, the coordination between the ground capacitance of the distribution network and the parameters of PT can generate PT ferromagnetic resonance overvoltage. In order to verify whether PT resonance will occur in the distribution system and what kind of resonance will occur, it is also necessary to accurately measure the ground capacitance value of the distribution network.
The methods for measuring the capacitance current of the distribution network include direct method with single-phase metal grounding, indirect measurement method with external capacitance, and signal addition method with PT open triangle. However, the most popular and frequently used method on site is still the neutral point capacitance method.
